So, um.

I'm not a huge fan of the Halo games, but I kind of dig the lore. The last one I played was 3, but I saw a gameplay trailer of 4 and I was wondering is someone cold fill me in on a couple points? How did MC get off that half-a-spaceship? Why is he still fighting Elites? Didn't they switch sides?
well played lol
The hostile Covenant in Halo4 aren't actually Covenant, they're from a splinter-faction called the Storm. Master Chief got off of the ship because it crashed on a shield word called Requiem.
They might just be saying screw the plot so they can hype up the gameplay, which I've always loved in Halo, but I'm going to mooch off of my brother and play his copy of the game when he gets it before I end up shelling out sixty bucks out of pure fanboy nostalgia.
I'm still a little wary on buying into a series that goes on longer than it should >.>
Well, I personally think they've done a really great job on making a game with just a HUGE lore. Seriously, if you haven't looked into it, you have no idea how much there actually is (I didn't know myself until recently).
From what I've read, it's four and a half years after Halo 3. The hunk of ship crash lands on a planet. The Covenant he's fighting are a break-away faction.
as for chief getting off the ship that was half floating through space, there's a lil trailer thingy that kind of explains it back when they announced H4. Basically cortana wakes me up (Chief said at the end of 3 "wake me when you need me" ) and there's shit goin down, shit explodin, craziness afoot. chief makes his way to the half of the ship that is ker dead and there's a huge structure presented before him (supposedly forerunner) the beginning of the game will cover this more.
As for the Elites and what not, The Covenant that you fight in the firs three games is a section of a whole. The Covenant are not one whole unit that all follow the same ideals, and there are groups that still have their own agenda. this group is a seperate group in the far reaches of space that Cheif now resides in, and craziness happens there too. again, all shall be explained~
And by the way, I'm pretty much on playing Halo at the time - finished Halo: ODST on Legendary with my brother, now we're about to beat Halo: CE Anniversary Edition :P
2. There are still Elites that believe in the Great Journey that are opposed to the main Sangheili cohort. Also consider the events in the book Glasslands, where ONI specifically sets out create instability within the Sangheili hierarchy (or whatever government they have). That book at its sequel, along with the Forward Unto Dawn mini-movie, lead up to the Halo 4 events.
hope that helped dude lol
(This is mostly true, the Halo 4 stuff is just speculation so this post is not credible >_>)
As far as I'm aware, what we saw at E3 was basically a demonstration of what the game's engine can do, rather than story points, kinda like what they did with the "Betcha can't stick it." video for Halo 2. This is just speculation on my part.
...Damn sexy elites, always causin' trouble...
