Red, White, and Screwed... What about the "OTHER" guys?

A little critical thinking for anyone that gives a crap about things like common sense and logic. Or who just wants to vent about how stupid things are in the political world these days.
So...
Presidential debates...
In America....
Am I the only person that wonders why it is just the Democrats and Republicans that are debating? What about all the other parties that are still on the ticket? The good ones AND the crazy ones.
Now I know the Democrats and Republicans both control the media for the last forever and a half... So, just for fun, let us pretend this is some alternate universe where journalists and news media were forced by law to be truthful and unbiased.... Wouldn't the OTHER candidates that are STILL RUNNING get to be a part of those debates, especially in undecided voter territory?
I used to watch the British Parliament when it was still around on TV, and had endless entertainment when all the differing old men and their 5+ political affiliations would start yelling and tossing insults at each other... Or international news that would show newly democratic countries with 12+ political affiliations debating for hours with/at each other.
That is what the American debates need!
When it is just the extreme Red vs. the extreme Blue, you already know how it will turn out. I would love to see what happens when you throw in a Green party guy, Independent guy, libertarian guy, Communist guy-ski, 'ACTUAL' Socialist guy, Peace and love party 'Hippie politics' guy, and maybe a comedian like Lewis Black or such just for the hell of it... I would PAY BIG MONEY to see that debate!
It would be interesting, to say the least, on what political party spews the least amount of bullshit in that case.
I wonder if there is a "Logic and Common Sense" party yet? Or maybe a "Tell The Truth" party? Or maybe a "Grow some fucking balls and tell it like it is" party?
All I can really say is: I cannot wait till the next asshole or current asshole gets elected and all this shit dies down back to the usual, our country is being ruined, thing. Then I can finally go back to watching my favorite shows and skipping through commercials on my DVR about cars I'll never buy/lease, big brand ripoff auto insurance that will save me hundreds over those other guys big brand ripoff auto insurance, IRS Debt consolidators, designer drugs I don't need that will kill me with their side effects, and law firms that want to know if you or someone you know died from said designer drugs."
Ah... The American Dream... *gets stars in his eyes* Yes dream... The only place you can go to get away from American Reality.

Ha could you Imagine a world where people could live their own lives without some burdening shadow always over them? I think they would call it happiness.
I think this is about the closest you'll get...I had to look this up, as I don't listen to NPR. I know, I am so sheltered. But yes, Americans are just conditioned to only recognize binary solutions...DIS or DAT. Of course, if one were to take the time and research, they would find that political ideologies--much like many things in life/nature/the real world--can, and do, exist on a spectrum. And it's okay to not be solely DIS or DAT.

I'm still trying to figure out which half of Obomney is the bigger hypocrite myself, and why people aren't banging on the White House gates for electoral reform yet (including runoff elections to accomodate multiple parties).
Unfortunately, such thinking doesn't create the best environment for a true democracy.
I have always been one of those, "Question Authority" types. I like to get all sides of a story or multiple sources and average them out to find the truth before making a decision.
You cannot have a true democracy when you believe that "The Government" should handle all the laws and policy making... It NEEDS to be the PEOPLE that decide everything! From what color the local town hall building should be painted, to the amount of pay politicians should make, to who will handle international affairs.
When I tell someone that I cannot stand Mittbama and will vote for someone I agree with, they usually say, "You are wasting your vote." And I just start laughing at that point.
My own views tend towards "traditionalist conservatism" or paleoconservatism (google it), but after the death of Canada's PC Party it has fallen off the one-dimensional left-right scale and thus I am forced to vote for the lesser of several evils. Such is politics.
