Thrift Shop Memoirs

I once had a tape player names Arlo....
Today was an interesting day to say the least. I was planning on going somewhere to find an old vacuum for a friend of mine. He'd buy it, use it, but keep it at my house since no one at his cares for anything and he tries his best to care for his stuff. The first place we went to we found one of those old Singer ones that you would most likely find in an average home in the mid 80's I would say, but it wasn't exactly what I was looking for. They also have stairs, and trying to vacuum with one of those would be annoying for anyone. At least the bag wouldn't need to be emptied from only one floor of carpet. We went to a second thrift shop and found some very interesting side items. I bought myself Tekken 4 and my friend bought me an MCS dual deck cassette player. Some very interesting finds, seeing as how I still make my own but am getting a bit annoyed by another friend's tape deck making the sound's a bit funny. After that seeing as how neither of us had a lot of money, I came home and got the roll of bills that I keep from when I take all my change to a coinstar. In total it was about $26. My friend had another $17 and I'm glad he did. At the last place we looked at we found an old Panasonic vacuum from about 2007 or so. It looked to be in great condition except for a worn belt and a full bag, but it even came with an extra extension hose and extension wand, for only $35. It looked like it had been used rarely at best, seeing as there were some white scuff marks on it, but when I tried it out, even the headlight worked (though I might get a brighter one soon...) but the belt was toast. When we got it home, it was kind of ironic. I found out how to get into the floor nozzle pretty easily, and the machine even came with a spare belt, operators manual, and parts catalog along with it's already discovered extras. After I figured out how to get the covers (yes there's two of them for the roller brush) off the brush, it was fairly easy to get the old one out. And not a minute to soon either. It was cracking into all these triangles on the outer part and the inner part was literally melted in places. I could tell that it was never opened that far though, because I found the spare belt holder behind the height selector, under the outer nozzle cover. for $35 plus tax.... Not a bad deal at all...
And as a side note to some of the oddities we found, we found a leather rack in the last thrift shop with some pretty nice stuff in it. I found a few pairs of boots that caught my eye, but nothing could compare to what was on the rack.... A fanny pack made with leather dyed to the Mexican flag. I HAD to take a picture.
I found your birthday gift. XD http://fc04.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2.....ml-d5is64g.jpg
