It's enough to make FA pull screens. You could argue it falls outside the upload TOS.

That's just a classic legal clause to allow them to do what they want with your stuff. However in this case, Spore being a non-persistent MMOG, they need permission - so that you can share your horrible freak show with every other player. Otherwise, they couldn't redistribute your stuff. Even if you wanted them to.

Why is it okay to post photos but not okay to post Spore screeshots?

Do you think EA might try to patch the game to unsexualize it? I know they have measures to make sure they're not uploaded onto the Spore database, but .. that's the least of my interests to begin with.

I don't think that's possible. They'd have to completely break the game to do that. As it is, all you have to do is reshape a limb into anything you want. I noticed, though, that when you save a creature you can enter metatags for it. I'm sure that if I uploaded that, it'd eventually be marked as mature.

Eh, it's been predicted the second Spore was announced and I think EA already have plans to handle such content.

Personally, I probably wouldn't upload such creatures at all haha. Partly because they would look kinda dumb when walking around.

They can't. Anything they do to "unsexualize" it would neuter the ability to make creatures in general, which is a big chunk of the game's appeal.

I am a sucker and bought the full version and am impatiently waiting for it to ship. :|

Yeah, I get the feeling Spore screenshots are going to be a point of contention in the near future. FA disallows screenshots of "generated" characters; World of Warcraft is cited as an example. Spore creatures are of course generated content, but there's a good deal of work and creativity involved in actually making them. I'd say it's kind of a grey area.

On the other hand.. they don't allow SL without big restrictions, which has a huge ability to create objects as well..

Also I think the problem of R+ Rated spore material will be pretty easy to deal with. I have a feeling all 'public use' monsters and buildings will actually be distributed via the main Spore servers, and will be 'quality checked' before being allowed to peer-2-peer with other peoples.

Apparently, a demo of the creature creator was released in a UK gaming magazine awhile ago. It got leaked onto the internet from there. Yeah, it's not due out for a couple more days.

Guess (and hope, the only only other way would be castrating the game) EA does "quality control" in their server then, but hey, what do we have E-mail for and the usual filesharing places. Guess I will create a species of tail-herms (female body with tail on which's end the male parts are) They were png data, weren't they, means uploadable in here.

I guess you can flag stuff as adult, yeah. I guess they're assuming other users will mark creatures as adult if they find them offensive. I read on ASCII Dreams that there's something like 100,000 creatures being added to the database every 24 hours, so there's no way EA can do it themselves.

And yeah, you CAN upload .PNG creature files here, I assume, but if pictures of Spore creatures aren't allowed on FA, I'd assume the creatures themselves would also be deleted in a timely manner.
