It should be no surprise to anyone who knows me, I love Con*Tact Caffeine soap. But today I figured I would post an in depth review!

I discovered this very small business (three total people, working in an apartment) upon attending my first Rain Furrest con in 2010. They were selling this soap, and there couldn't have been more than 6 scents at that time, but it all smelled amazing. We bought several bars, and began using them instantly. My boyfriend and I no longer use store bought soap. We exclusively use Con*Tact Caffeine soap.

Shortly after I believe they opened their online store, and I've been ordering lots of their product ever since. I also majorly stock up when they are selling at any con I attend. I always place a huge order during their Black Friday sale, to give out as gifts to my friends and everything arrives quickly, and looks amazing.

Every bar is hand poured, dusted with pretty mica, wrapped, and packed for mail by hand. There is a lot of care in each bar, but not everyone is perfect. Sometimes they frost or crumble, but as I have learned as a regular customer this is just part of the reaction the caffeine causes in the soap. I've never had a problem with that, and once wet it all washes away. Some of the older bars may lose their scent through the package, but again once wet, the scent comes right back. I still have a bar, I can’t seem to bare to use it for nostalgia sake, from that RF 2010, and it still smells and looks as pretty as the day I bought it.

As for how the actual product works. I personally use my bars with a “shower poof” (seriously, Google that term, you’ll see what it is). I wet the bar and work up a good lather on the poof and use it to scrub. For myself my bar of soap will last 3 weeks to a month at least. My boyfriend is a little harder on his bars of soap and showers more often so his only last about 2-3 weeks. The lather is soft, and the scent is great. With certain bars at random (remember, handmade product, so slight variation from bar to bar even if they’re the same batch!) the scent can be strong on the bar itself, and the lather, but after washing it is left very lightly on the skin. I've never been disappointed after using the product. I cannot use your average bar soap, it dries out my skin and leaves me feeling itchy. I've even supported other small businesses who make handmade soap (places like Geeky Clean, and some folks on Etsy) and as nice as their products are, I just can’t use them without still having a dried out feeling, and needing another shower again to scrub it off. I've never had this problem with Con*Tact. It leaves my skin soft, and smelling so amazing!

I've always received prompt replies to any messages sent, and the shipping has been great considering someone has to personally take their time to pack it up and make sure it gets sent. I live in California, which does mean I get pretty decent shipping speed from Washington. I’m always so excited when the box arrives, and the delightful scents pour out of it.

One time I found we had gotten a bar I didn't remember asking for by mistake, and was really put off by the smell. I simply brought it to FC as that was the next con we’d both be at and I was able to swap it for something I preferred much more.

So overall I really love this very small business, and look forward to giving them my business regularly and for as long as they’re around!

If you haven't tried them yet, you really ought to! I especially recommend giving them a second glance if you're attending a con they happen to be selling it. That way you can smell all the amazing scents in person and really get a feel for how everything works :3
