End of a semester.
Well, another semester is over. Grades were a lot better than normal this time. I made more friends this semester than the rest of high school and college. And I've decided on going for a double major: Digital Film-making and Broadcast Journalism.
Something has been on my mind all week though. I miss the 'end of the year' feeling from high school. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE being out of high school. But those last couple days before a long break were always great. Everyone having parties. All the classes becoming places to chat with friends. And the thing I miss the most is watching the clock tick down to on the last minute of the last day. Just the energy in the air that everyone waiting for that one moment creates.
College doesn't have it.
In college, you don't go 8am to 3pm (well, most people don't >.> I do... till 5pm) And you don't have the same classes every day. And to top it off, for finals week they rearrange your class structure, moving your class times around. Now instead of everyone waiting to go on the last day, everyone is leaving whenever they're done. Middle of test time and finish early? That's the start of your summer. Its missing the party.
Well last night a large section of my news group decided to have an end of semester/birthday party for one of the people who just turned 21. We went to a local 'restaurant' (county law says you can't open a bar. but you can sell alcohol at a restaurant if you pay for the license) called The Draft. Good place, great drinks, lots of friends chatting about how the semester went. Then we all left at the same time and went home (where I imagine all of us passed out. we got quite drunk. Yay having a driver!). It was a great end to the semester.
in other news, I'm 24 on the 17th. yay me.
