It's gonna be hard to top last year!
Last year I started out the year, getting kicked out of my house, moving 800 miles, moving back, got about EIGHT different jobs over the year had my heart broken blah blah blah, the list just goes on and on and on. But really This last year was a blast!
I made a ton of new friends and I'm on my way to long term economic stability. I'm still karma bombing from my old car. I have a stable job. I'm healthy and happy. There's always something else to ask for, but I'll great right now. I joined a gym, last week and I haven't been this sore in a while but it feels good. I miss being this sore.
So much happened over the course of this year, I'll try to hit the main points. IF you want to just TL;DR, then come away with this:
I HAD AN AMAZING YEAR AND I AM A BOSS. (this year is getting bent over and ridden for all it's worth)
There have been some big changes this year though. I went through two cars, and I'm hoping I can keep this third one for more than a few months.
First I had a 1999 Saturn SC2 that my mother had given to me. I was unbelievably lucky for that. I had that car for about two years before one day, while returning from
mith and
stagelion the engine started to suddenly sputter, knock and kick before stopping all together. Then it ignited. I was fine and put it out quickly. I sold it to a scrap yard later that week for about $250 Canadian. It was and old car , granted and I had been having a ton of problems with it . A part of me still misses that car. it didn't have the biggest engine or the fastest acceleration, but it was A Good Car. IT took catastrophic engine failure to finally bring it down.
Without a way to get to work I quickly had to find new transport and within a day I found a 2006 Ford fusion for only $1,750, and in great condition, if a little dirty. ACTUAL RETAIL VALUE? $9500. I bought it from an old man who had too many tickets and his license was revoked. I asked him about the price. HE said that it had been in a few rear end accidents but had it fixed at the dealer. HE also had the service records for the car. I bought it on the spot. It was a wonderful car! Where as I would not buy another Saturn, I would buy another ford, given the chance. IT had a big ol' V6 and felt great to drive. . . Till some Canadian in a white Hyundai ran me off the road and into a guardrail. The insurance said it was a write off, Merry Christmas yer without a car. FUCK.
In the meantime my Insurance company got me into a rental car. . .a 2012 Prius. God they aren't kidding about the gas mileage. I could fill up for about $25 dollars and go 450 miles before I had to think about going to a gas station. That being said, the trade of was an uncomfortable car to drive. There was almost no pick up, even when in the power mode. The electronic motor was finicky and seemed as if it would only work arbitrarily. Combine that with a small turn radius and blind spots that just felt weird. It was good on gas but really, I expected a car with a little more finish. So next time you see a Prius on the road driving like an ass, It's not COMPLETELY his fault.
I went car shopping to dealers this time since there was not the selection that I had previously found on private sales. I eventually settled on a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP. this thing has an even bigger engine and has some quirky features that I like. Although I feel like I over paid a little bit, I'm still happy with the car over all. IT gets just about as good of gas mileage as the ford even though it's the heaviest, and most powerful car I've ever owned. I still need to have the dealer do a little bit of work to the car, but that should be taken care of in no time at all.
Also over the course of the year I had a nasty little health scare. In the middle of an EMT class I suddenly fell victim to TIA, also known as Trans ischemic activity, Also also known as a mini stroke. After conveying that I was not just fucking around I was promptly packaged up and taken to the hospital, with and inability to speak and write and sever facial droopage. I only spent 6 hours in a hospital bed before I was sent home with a a ton of paperwork and a 2000 hospital bill. They game me no treatment, only took some tests. I got better on my own thankfully. I do begrudge the hospital on several factors but since I got better and it happened a while ago with no lasting consequences, I'll keep them to myself.
A lot more happened, but for now. I'll leave it at this and continue on later! See ya guys!
