Disney World Chapter Two, The Animal Kingdom
13 years ago
General
This Kingdom is actually Disney's NEWEST park having open back in 1998. it is the LARGEST out of all 4 of the main parks, this is because Disney requires a MASSIVE amount of open space to house the animals and replicate there actual environment.
upon entering the Animal Kingdom you enter into what is known as the Oasis. this is the main are/walkway that takes you to Discovery island, the center of the Animal Kingdom. in the Oasis there are small animals, fish, birds and even pigs and ant eaters that you as a guest enjoy seeing in replicated habitats. These animals include ducks, Florida Cooters,Rosy-billed Pochard,Giant anteater,African SpoonbillBabirusa, and many more, the Babirusa is especially cute to look ay when he is wondering around ^_^

The Oasis
Upon crossing the bridge that leads out of the Oasis you enter Discovery island, the very heart of the animal kingdom. This is were the legendary tree of life proudly stands and is the center piece of the kingdom just as cinderella castle is for Magic Kingdom. As the main point of the Kingdom it connects you to the other parts of the park depending on which pathway you choose to take, with the exception of rafikis planet watch, more on that later.
The Tree of life also acts as animal enclosures that the guests can enjoy, these animals include Black Crowned Crane,Eastern grey kangaroo,Red kangaroo,Ring-tailed lemur,Salmon-crested Cockatoo, and more. the Kangaroos were especially fun to watch when they hop around. Now another fun thing about the tree of life is that you can actually go INSIDE OF IT, inside the tree is the 4D show called "Flicks Its tough to be a big" now i won't spoil it for you guys but if you ever get a chance go on and see it! just.....watch out when you sit down for certain parts of the show.
Now the Tree of life is unique due to the fact that is that the tree has over 100 ANIMALS carved into it. when you get up close, which you can due to the walk ways around it, you can see the BEAUTIFUL crafted and carved details of all the animals carved into it. Animals from bears, big cats, birds, insects and more all carved into this GIANT tree, it really is a sight to behold. aside from that discovery island has to main gift shops such as island mercantile and some eateries such as pizzafari. It is at this point that you choose the path you want to travel down and for me my first choose is ALWAYS the path that leads to my King.

Camp Minnie Mickey
Camp Minnie Mickey is themes after a nice rustic summer camp.....bare with me i SWEAR its not as bad as it sounds.
The camp serves as a meet and greet location were you can meet wilderness minnie and mickey, wilderness donald and goofy, king louie, Baloo the bear, chip and dale, wilderness explorer Russell and his dog Dug and Princess Pochahontes herself. Now the Theater dome is home to the parks #1 attraction FESTIVAL OF THE LION KING, and let me tell you folks THIS SHOW IS AMAZING!!
you as the guest get to choose outta which 3 seat stands you want to sit in, when the show starts you are informed by the tribes men and women on which row you are sitting in and to help call out King Simba and the animals by making there respective animals noises, these animals are warthogs, giraffes, elephants and of course lions. the very first time i saw the show i was sitting in the elephant seating areas, after that i made sure to sit in the lion section to be close to King Simba.
The musical numbers are all from the show with lots of dancers and floats and animatronics, and even acrobats (the famous tumble monkeys), all wearing traditional african wear to help fit the theme. during each of the musical numbers if you look at each of the 4 represented animals on each of there floats you can see there moving along and even singing to the songs them selves, it was so cute watching king samba sing along with everyone else!! i took SOOOOOOO MANY pictures of him <3 <3 <3 <3 for the grand finale the dancers invite children and even adults to come on stage and parade around with them to the finale song, this is my favorite show in the Animal kingdom and i encourage EVERYONE to go see it, its the only place you can meet King Simba in the ENTIRE park and i LOVE seeing him each time <3

Africa
In the African portion of Animal kingdom we come across the village of Harambe.
The village offers a table service restaurant with a complete bar, several gift shops that offer authentic african sculpted wood works, some eatery stands and a small stage were african drummers come out and preform for the crowd. two things i recommend is trying the african wine samples if you are of age or the african juices such as sugar can juice for those that are not of age. there is also a small stand at the entrance when coming of the bridge from discovery island that sells JUNGLE JUICE, a mixture of guava, passion fruit and manga, a must try!
One of the Main attractions here is the Kilimanjaro safaria. This expedition takes you across the acres of the savanna showcasing many wild african animals roaming around freely as you track through the road. these animals include african elephants, white and black rhinos, the white one just recently had a baby and is cute as a button! giraffe, hippos, impalas, lions, warthogs, water bucks, ostriches and more! its a fun thing to experience seeing all the animals roaming around freely in there areas, sadly the lions didn't pop out when we passed pride rock but hey theres a chance you might see them out and about if you take the track =)
across from the track is the Pangani Forest Exploration Trail, you trek through forest to you can see other animals in there natural habitat such as monkeys, hippos, cranes, black cranes and other enjoyable birds and wild life. walking through the forest track gives you a real sense of serene and calmness that i can't really explain or put into words.

Rafikis Planet Watch
Interesting enough Rafikis Planet watch is the only portion of the park that is NOT connected through discovery island. instead you as a guest have to board the express train that takes you there. This is the home of Shamon Rafiki. In this section of the park guests are taken to the planet watch were you leaner a lot about conservation, natural habitats, eco friendly living and information on animals that are going extinct unless we as a race help protect them., this is also home to the Animal Kingdom veterinary clinic. Inside the the planet watch you see the overrating/examination room of the Animal kingdom vets and care takers. during certain hours of the day you can view trained professional vet staff examining animals and possibly even preforming surgery on animals such as gorillas, monkeys and even lions and tigers. This is also were you can enter one of 4 private rooms then can fit up to 4 people and put on a pair of head phones as you listen to grand mother will and the sounds of the rain forest. the great rafiki is also there as a meet and great and a small petting zoo is there for the kids =)

Asia
asian is home to the kingdom of Anandapur, the two villages that inhabit this area are riverside village of Anandapur and Serka Zong, the second village being right at the foothills of the Himalayas. Pictures of the Royal family can be seen in various gift stands and shops in the villagers. at the center of the road the connects both villages is the "flights of wonder" bird show. this show features many exotic birds along with two specialists that help the birds fly around and preform small tricks while informing you on the type of bird and its natural habitat.
One of the main attractions for asian is the Maharajah Jungle Trek. This trek is a personnel favorite of mine for many reasons. The trek features many animals such as asian birds, komodo dragons, bats, flying foxes, and the main center piece the Tigers!!!! the Tiger enclosure is breathtaking. styled after ancient fallen ruins it show cases tiger in wild grass land as well as a tiger water temple with running fountains for them to enjoy. i LOVE going to see them each time and the way its styled makes you really believe you are in the ruins of a tiger shrine that the prince had built for them. if your lucky enough you can see the tiger jump straight off the top fountain right into the pool, you can even see them play with one another, eat, and sleep. i saw one vomit one time.....awesome.
another main feature of asia is the Himalayas, home to expedition Everest! now....be warned all those who venture on this expedition. The mountain is home to a creature of great and TERRIFYING strength and size. a creature who's sole purpose is to terrify and destroy, a creature who is pure beast and wants to be left alone for those that face it stand no chance of coming back alive. This....is the Yeti. I kid you not people.....THIS MOTHER FUCKER IS HUGE!!!! in order to remove this thing from the mountain they would have to drill a HOLE in it to take him out......he is scary....scary as hell. i was lucky enough to get a spot in the behind the scenes tour of expedition everest and as a part of the tour we got to be up close and personnel with the yeti. people are all like oh eric he is just a animatronic, well guess what THAT DOES NOT MAKE IT ANY LESS SCARY!! its teeth and its stature and the look in its eyes is just pure beastly scary and HOLY CRAP i almost fainted when i met this thing. the coaster ride is one of the best around and when you reach the part were you face the yeti......the amount of fear you have when you see its face flashing in the dark....back when the ride was first built the yeti could ACTUALLY drop down and try and grab you. however the imagineers behind the ride did not really put into account on how HEAVY THIS MOFO IS. it is because of its weight that some mechanics failed inside of it and it can no longer do that function, it was so heavy that it actually THREATEN the very structure of the mountain so they had to remove the moving portion for fear it would bring the WHOLE ride down. i encourage all of you to ride this roller coaster....but i also issue a grave warning if you do.
The last ride to enjoy in asia is the khaki rapid rides! its a fun water rafting ride for people of all ages, you travel down strong water torrents and givers and even falls all while trying to not get wet and survive.....good luck staying dry XD

This is the one part of Animal Kingdom were there are no actual animals on display. its more of a kid are or a area for those really interested in science, don't get me wrong there is stuff for adults here too!
one of the things it focuses on is the evolutionary link between the reptiles and fishes we have today in our life time to the link they share with those billions of years ago. This part of the park also focuses on the plant life of that time and what connection out current plant life has to it.
One of the main attractions of this park is the wild life theater. this is were animal kingdoms SECOND best stage show is preformed, the "finding Nemo" musical, its second best to the lion king.....BITCH SLAP anyone else who tells you other wise. i saw this show a few times and it really is a fun show, with live perfumers and puppeteers and floats, the seagull puppet is EASILY the size of a small house and when mr sting ray comes out he bicycle they use to bring him out is really neat, on the few times i did see the show i give props to the lady playing and moving around as dori, the really captures her quirky ness! at the end of the show the entire theater is filled with bubble and its fun hearing surfing turtles closing song with the whole cast! i recommend seeing it =)
Dinoland also features a fun kids area were kids can unearth ancient fossils in sand, fun roller coasters for kids and adults of all sizes, and neat gift shops with dinosaurs merchandise. it also feature the DINOSAUR trek ride were you can your friends travel back in time in hopes to bring back a real life dinosaur, you get to see these really great animatronics and there really life like as dinosaurs, the t rex is especially scary lol.....i had my eyes closed a lot.

Dude, sounds like you had one hell of a good time, I've always wanted to go to Disney World, and I mean, the commercials for it. And after reading and seeing all this, the want to go grew greater. I will, one day, I will one day go...hopefully.
