No need to reinvent the wheel. Try one of the following, especially if you can get the model in to STL format. :)

Despite slicer 3d sounding like it should slice 3d models it does the oposite of creating 3d models from mri like scans. Freesteel when I download it doesnt really.. do anything? And I also need it to render color/texture data for the layers so its not helpful to me if it doesnt!

Ahh well, not sure of your specific requirements. There's certainly a good handful of free utilities out there if you search around, however. :)

Another thought is asking  kironeem about this. He and I co-authored a pretty comprehensive open-source 3D math library a while back that contains a majority of the functions necessary for doing something like you are describing. I unfortunatly don't have the time to take this on right now, however I've considered writing something like this a while ago for slicing simple models so I could laser-cut cross section stack-ups, so I kind of know where you are coming from. :)

Only thing youd use this type of software for I think x3 I want a software thats stand alone, simple and user friendly. Import model click slice, done.
