Every Day's a Good Day when you Paint! *Dance performance!*
12 years ago
So Last night I attended the Kashmir Nights Hafla. My First time there.
The Belly Dance world has been really difficult this last month or so, and going to this show was my liberation!
I went there with Juin and our new neighbor, and I didn't give a flying FUCK what anyone thought about me.
Me costume, my size, if people liked me, hated me (there were a few that I knew of in advanced, unfriendly territory did NOT come even close to describing it as my ex troupe mate was there and we haven't spoken since the huge fight a couple of weeks ago)
I knew my dance piece was going to be a little unusual, but it was mine, it is a song I LOVE and inspires me every single time I hear it.
I Listened to my Sufi master and danced for myself. If people like me, great, if not, who cares!
Yes it's easier said then done, but somehow I finally was able to do it.
The show was AMAZING!
SO professional! MUCH better then the showcase I have been performing at by far!
And I had a first last night. Like RIGHT before I went on, this girl who was part of a choreo class, their first time belly dancers and it was their first show EVER, first performance, she had been sorta glancing at me all evening, and she finally asked if I performed at the December Hip Ex show, and I said "yes I did a Persian Classical Piece with my Troupe for Yalda" she was like "OMG it's YOU!" it's me? It's me what?
Then she said something I never thought I would hear
"You yes you! I saw you perform and it totally inspired me to start belly dancing! that is how I ended up in this choreography class! OMG!"
Me *deer in headlights* "wut?"
Yeah..so like less then a minuet before I am supposed to step on stage I find out I actually inspired someone to the point that they went out and took a belly dance class.
wow.....
The performance went great, and I had a LOT of people come up to me after, lust loving it and wanting to know where I was teaching and such, Hell one of my students from Temple Goddess was even there!
I have a Coffee date with the gal who ran the show, as well as the troupe leader for said choreo class. So yeah..
It seems when you let go and do things because YOU enjoy them and not care so much about what others think, it shows..BIG time.
And I couldn't be happier.
I love this song, I love this dance, the costume is made by all other belly dancers and friends, so yeah it was really amazing.
Side note
I have NOT been home for the last 6 days. Juin has been doing a marathon 10 hour days for the last 6 days, and I drive him to and from work, spend the night etc etc, and since our move in together never happened....eeyyaaahh..haven't really had time at my computer, like at all.
So next week he is off, and I will have time to finally sit down and get these sketches, WIPs, and finished commissions up, posted and sent.
I appreciate your patience. I promise it will be worth it. I have upgraded most of the commissions that have taken longer then was intended to be finished, so I hope you all like what I have done.
So without further adue...here is my performance from last night
Enjoy!

It comes as no surprise whatsoever that you inspired that girl. I'm just glad she had a chance to tell you.
So good to see you happy! *happySnoopydance* Now you and Juin get some rest, y'hear? :)
Oh, and I think Bob would have really grooved out on your routine. Happy trees, happy clouds, happy Lysette. It works.
