Read through "Watchmen". It is a very good and very satisfying book (aside from the ending, in which my favorite character dies in a rather unsatisfying way, and the rest of the ending is an anti-climactic cliff-hanger that might have worked better if it had ended a chapter ago and left everyone asking 'why?', rather than give some gaudy epilogue of the aftermath.
