A PAYMENT FOR MY INDOLENCE

Not having updated my journal for more than five months, I strated to feel like to write something. Though the life is not always full of wonderful things, I have been on a diet since the commencemnt of this year. Since my weight reached around 185lbs., I have begun to feel something wrong with me.
The medical check which I took last December revealed that. My blood pressure was higher than 180mmHg over 105mmHg, the value of nutral lipid in my blood was over 145mg/dl., the blood-sugar level was 80mg/dl. These values meant that I was exposed to the menace of diabetes, heart and brain diseases.
However the life may suck, I thought it unreasonable to die of or from a disease which I do not need to fall. So I decided to take 1,200Kcal and to have 4 miles run every day. On starting them, I was tormented by incessant hunger. It was also very hard to walk even only half a mile. I was shocked that my body has been reluctant just to walk while I was having a binge.
Hence diet is an abstemious deed, it is so difficult to fight against indolence that it certainly calls for a resolution
and a perseverence. I, however, had no choice but doing so since I had been standing on the edge of lifestyle related diseases.
Three months have passed since I went on a diet. It was no fun to do it although, the last medical check which I took last week brought me the good results. My blood pressure went back to 110mmHg over 65mmHg, and I could reduce my weight by 35lbs.
No one would praise simply because I reduced my weight although, I was a bit pleased with the words of a clerk at Seven-Eleven by which I drop every day.
"Having seen you for these three months, I noticed that your shape was getting better and better."
It was a moment that my secret effort was rewarded.

減量はストイックな行動だ。従って、怠惰心と闘う事が本当で難しいから決意と忍耐が要る。それでも成人病の危機にある以上これをするしかなかった。
減量初めてから3か月が過ぎた。減量をする事は全く愉しいでないだったが、先週受けた検診で良い結果が出た。血圧は110mmHg / 65mmHgに戻り、17Kg減量する事できた。
これをしたからと言って誰もほめてはくれないだが、毎日立ち寄るセブン―イレブンのある店員の言葉に少し喜んだ。
「この3か月程度見ておりましたが、恰好がどんどん良くなっていますね。」
人知れない努力が報われた一瞬だった。

Waiting for the rest of the results of my blood test, I look forward to better values both to my nutral lipid and blood-sugar level. So far, no bad things have
happened to my body since I have reduced my weight by 35lbs. Normal blood pressure, taking back my six pack, I am really glad that the cloths get along with me better. I, however, will have to buy new cloths because the size turned from the "XL (2L)" into the "L", or the "M."
Because of the medications I'm on, I get some blood tested every 4-7 months. I'm fortunate that nothing has turned up yet.

on the contrary, it is extremly difficult to reduce it. I learned a lesson that it is really important to do some exercise every day, and avoid over-eating. Looking at the past records of the quantity of foods which were served to people in the food service industry both in the U.S. and Japan, I found that the volume of them has increased by 1.5 - 1.8 times in average in comparison with the records of 1969. We are happy to eat enough at lower price although, it is dreadful that everybody seems to be inclined to do over-eating unconsciously.
STEP 1 - TO KNOW THE NECESSARY CALORIES PER DAY
Apply the following formulae to see the BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate):
MEN: 88.362 + (13.397 x weight in Kg) + (4.799 x height in cm) - (5.677 x your age)
WOMEN: 447.593 + (9.247 x weight in Kg) + (3.098 x height in cm) - (4.330 x your age)
*these formulae may work for the Caucasoids.
*1lb.=0.453592Kg / 1ft.=30cm, 1 inch=2.54cm
e.g.: 5'12": 5 X 30 + 12 X 2.54 = 180.5cm
190lbs.: 190 X 0.453592=86.2Kg
STEP 2 - SET UP THE DIETARY PLANS AND EAT AT REGULAR HOUR
Based upon the number of BMR which I calculated, I decided to take 1,200Kcal in total every day. It was lower than that number, but I did not think it a problem becauseI have already had much of subcutaneous fat. I also made it a rule NOT to eat unbalanced meals, and NOT go on a fast. Then I decided to take every meal at regular hour, for instnace:
BREAKFAST: 06:30AM - 08:00AM
LUNCH: 11:30AM - 12:30PM
SUPPER: 06:30PM - 08:00PM
*No snacks and no beverages which contain sugar.
STEP 3 - EXERCISE
I started to have half a mile of quick walking at the commencement in thirty minutes after lunch every day. Along with getting accustomed to it, I extended the distance of walking. Now I have 4 miles run every day. It is important to let the muscles work. Slow walking and walking without siwnging the arms may not be much of help. Our body seems to be inclined to burn up the calories which we took newly. So I thought it really necessary to do some exercise to have my body burn up the calories which I took in the past. FYI, 4,000 steps in quick walking burn approximately 200Kcal, however, I do not think that walking, jogging, and running are only the exercises. We can do any other sorts of exercise, such as doing some sports, dancing, skateboarding, roller skating, and so on.
STEP 4 - GO TO BED EARLY
On starting them, I had been tormented by incessant hunger for the first one month. I had always been tempted to take a midnight snack so badly that I decided to go to bed early before I felt hungry for midnight snack. Interesting to say, I started to feel less hungry around when a month has passed since I started doing them.
These are the examples I implemented. Though they may force you a huge perseverance, I have been glad that they could be some of your help.
Again, these are the examples. Since everyone has a different body, I hope you will set up a suitable plan for you.
If a man had 155lbs. of weight, approximately 617lbs. of load are applied to his knees at each time he steps out for running.
Potato chips: 60g (2.10oz.), Abt. 360Kcal, JPY78.-/pack (USD0.82.-)
Danish pastry: 100g(3.52oz.) Abt. 396Kcal, JPY168.-/pc. (USD1.78.-)
Milk chocolate: 60g(2.10oz.) Abt. 340Kcal, JPY85.-/pc. (USD0.90.-)
Cup noodle: 77g(2,72oz.) Abt. 364Kcal, JPY128.-/pc. (USD1.35.-)
and so on.
By now, it must be we, the consumers that should be careful with over-eating.
And after 4 months of staying at the right weight, i can tell you to best possible way to stabilize yourself is to exercise several times a week. Daily is even better. At least that's how i did it!
Comme tout le monde nous dit, il n'y a que faire de l'excercice ou du sport, et que manger moins pour nous mettre en regime. Comme vous dites, nos efforts sont invisibles comme nous nous entrainons des furry arts à chaque jour. Petit a petit, l'oiseau fait son nid.
Quant à moi, le poids a attendu à 64Kge des 85Kge, et je suis en train de le garder, en prenant 1.200Kcal et courrant 6Km quotidiennement. Pourqoi pas nous les continuons pour éviter des maladies de comportement?

I am very glad to read your comment that you have successfully reduced your weight by 60lbs. over 5 monts in the same ways which I take. It is also nice that you keep your weight as what it is because it would be more difficult to avert rebounding.
As everybody says, we may have no ways but cutting down on our eating and drinking, in addition to doing some exercises and sports to reduce our weight. As you mention, our efforts are invisible just like our daliy practice of drawing furry arts. Many a little makes a mickle.
As for me, my weight has attained to 141lbs. from 185lbs with taking 1,200Kcal and having 6Km run every day. Why don't we keep doing them in order to avoid falling lifestyle related diseases?

You know, calories wise, i've done actually worse than you: i think i limited myself to stay below 1000 calories per day, and burned maybe maybe around 1500 - 2000 calories through one hour of running and another hour of fitness almost every day. As for now though, I resumed a higher calories intake, but i still try to do at least one hour of sport per day :3
Congrats on achieving your goal, though! It does feel rewarding when everybody ends up noticing your shape got better, doesn't it? ^^ To think i didn't even follow a diet for this...x3
