And I agree, it could look a bit less plushiefied and more raptor-like.

I used to have mine tied as well, but eventually freed them when I put them in storage. Running out of space for things at my place.

Nice! I didn't know Mozilla went that far back. I thought Mozilla and Netscape were completely separate things until they turned NS into Firefox... but that's all a bit older than me. Got any pictures?

I used to use Netscape before they turn the code free a group created Mozilla and later call it Firefox. But well, it got same wrong way of crazy update number. Jumped from version five to twelve, fourteen. In what number it is now? I got memory problem with last Firefox updates. It go high sucking and sucking all my memory until I down.
Could be greatest if it sucked another thing. 8p

Hehe... Well basically Mozilla copied the rapid dev cycle strategy of Google Chrome, so that's why the numbers are stupidly high. As for memory usage, it's not as bad as Firefox 2 and 3 used to be.

Netscape lead over numbers in middle of 2008, to be a number above IE in the epoch, they lauched Netscape 9 and lead over number 8. They gave up from continue the browser after it. I think in this epoch Google Chrome not even exist.
Anyway, I don't think they are serious programmer since they are just playing with numbers and confuse about real version. They should only change number when they get a large serious update that change most part of the browser.
Last normal Firefox Update was number 4 I think. I still have a copy of Firefox 4 and Thunderbird 3. Those version had some sub update versions, as Thunderbird 3.1.20, Thunderbird 3.1.7, etc...

I'm still not sure about the whole version numbering thing either, but they say the idea is that they don't want to push major updates any more, and want to focus on more frequent, smaller changes as and when features are ready... so a more incremental process altogether.
