I remember back when the policy changed on RL photos of people and there were concerns about people posting porn of themselves or other fetishy stuff like feet.

Alas, you can still find closeups of people's feet on here which, let's be real here, is for a fetish.

That said, I am honestly kinda surprised that the content you're talking about is the line in the sand for the head honcho here. I mean the photos are hardly obscene and even still you see no "skin" as it were. They seem to be stuck on the definition that "mature" means pornographic.

Can't say I know Dragoneer too well other than some random chats with him after learning we both worked at the same company and then some chats on Skype that followed suit. I don't know if he has a bias against fursuiters or if he is being overly cautious with the law in regards to real life models, but that issue is easily remedied with some basic recordkeeping.

There is also the possibility that there is concern of having a minor in such a costume slip through the cracks and get posted here and be deemed CSE material but there are ways of handling that as well.

Which brings me back to why it's just a weird line in the sand to draw given the general content that is hosted on this site yet artistic and tasteful light bondage photography of people in a full body furry costume is a hard no. Excluding a significant side of the furry fandom on what is the hub of furry content just doesn't jive well with me.

Might not be content I personally seek out (but damn some of those fursuits are incredible!) but it should absolutely be permitted here for those who want to see them. Especially since the photos of people's feet that are all the center focus of the photo are allowed and you know damn well people are spanking it to those.

All interesting theories... If only FA staff were willing to confirm or deny them, rather than shutting down every attempt to get an answer.

I'd understand if at least they were transparent about their policies. Not that there's much harm with the content discussed here but they're free to choose what to allow.
However not only do they arbitrarily ban things without letting you know you weren't allowed in the first place, they outright nuke it without a warning or anything to let you know.
"Make a proper blacklist feature? Update the dreadfully old site? Take a better stance against AI? Nah let's ban some guy's gallery lol"

Rules are rules. Clearly written and easy to follow.

I've been banned from dA since 2008 so I cannot login to see the journal entry. But I don't really need to. While the topic at hand might be about something specific, the broader concept is widely known at this point.

Some of us have been observing this kind of behaviour for over a decade, talking about it, and for years we were getting shut down and called various names, aspersions cast against our maturity, sanity, willingness to follow "basic rules," etc...

Now it's finally mask-off time and folks are acting surprised. As if nobody could fathom what happens when immature people get a taste of success... and start treating their platform as little more than a treehouse club. But in order to stay at least somewhat successful (read: respectable as a business), some face needs to be maintained.

So they keep up the charade of "code of conduct" even when most people now understand it's just an excuse to expunge anyone (((you know whom))) finds undesirable.

It's really nothing new. It's just new to those who are on the receiving end of it for the first time.

So... I really don't have any real stance when it comes to RL photography on an art site predominantly hosting illustrative (read: drawn, painted, etched, crafted, etc.) art. But I will say that the only arguably "right" call they've made in that list would be the latex/gimp sort of stuff. That is a very specific sexual piece of attire no matter what form it takes, even if not being used in an outright sexual way.

On the general point of "not the policy itself, but how it's being handled/enforced" I can absolutely agree with you there. It just comes as zero surprise to me, as this is the sort of behaviour I have always expected from FA admin. It's the same behaviour of pretty much anywhere in the furry fandom, with AnthroCon admins (or "council" or whatever the hell they're calling their treehouse clique these days) being the absolute worst by any means or measure.

What's funny is that your DA journal pretty much outlines the same sort of nonsense that had ultimately got me banned from there back in 2008. Whilst there's no specific correlation, it's definitely the part where they removed things without warning and with very thin (if any) explanation.

There are photos of fursuiters wearing underwear on FA, and underwear is a kink for some people, so a case could be made that those pictures are sexual in nature.

It sounds like the rule there may be ambiguous; it would be helpful if the it clearly stated what truly is and is not allowed, so that people can follow it.

A certain irony to this guy being banned after this journal. Not a good look for the mod team. The journal broke no rules. A clearly politcal banning.
