Red's Back Story

Starting Friday (4/12/2013), Original Life will be on an arc that will cover Red's back story. It's a story I've held onto for years, since shortly after her character was created, never quite knowing the best place to tell it. I think I've found the best way to deliver it for what it is, and as a way to give the character more depth. It's a story that's probably more at home in Better Days than it is in the Original Life, but there are people who have missed some of the more weighty topics from my last webcomic. So, I hope they will enjoy this. There are no punchlines. Not much about it is light hearted. But it will explain some of the reasons she is how she is in her thoughts about families, relationships, and how she needs to be in the control as well as emotionally distant in her sex life.

My webcomics are kind of like a jawbreaker. There are different colors and flavors as you work your way through it, over time. Some people take a break and store it in the wrapper in the desk drawer, only to take it up again later. Some people's mothers find it and are disgusted. Other people never start it out of fear, but then they're happy when they finally do. And then there's that weird girl in the neighborhood who just licks it and never puts it in her mouth.

On a curiosity, I've been wondering for a while if you ever plan to have Better Days printed and available as a compiled collection at conventions or on the shop online? Better Days is still one of my favorite webcomics to date, and I'd love the ability to just sit at home and flip through a book now and then as opposed to doing so on a tablet or my PC.

I've read and reread Better Days over and over, and Original Life through three times. I make sure to read a new page, the minute it's out.
I absolutely adore your webcomics, and I would like to find a way to donate(?) to you for putting them out. If you were to put out a purchasable, downloadable version of the two, I would definitely pay for them as a sort of thank you.

In all seriousness though, I didn't have the best role models as a kid to help me figure out social situations. Comics like yours that deal with the real shit and don't play with superficial drama are one of the very influential reasons that I don't still act like an autistic little kid in my mid-twenties. The earth shaking truth is that by doing your comics, you have helped shaped real lives.

Now for Original Life, hehe, I don't know where to start. In plain and simple I have to say: Fisk is still awesome as ever, lots and lots of "the hell?" moments mostly with the 3 kids, pretty good refs from other games/tv series, and new characters that I always wonder what's THEIR backstory to see how they became today. I can't wait to see more of Original Life and hopefully it'll continue on as a great series ^^

As for me, I'll keep following your comics anyway. Thank you for having informed us that Original Life will get a darker tint for some time, it wouldn't have been nice to find it out first hand. ^^

Hey outta curiosity, any plans for Robert and Jessica in the future. Since "Puppy Love" and Better Days, they've received little spotlight. Apart from seeing Jessica with all her puppies in a past Original Life comic, I haven't really seen them and those 2 are actually 2 of my favorite characters of yours. Now that I think about it, Puppy Love was the very first comic of yours that I read, so any plans for them?

But yeah, I've been curious about Red since your very old gallery pics from the incredibly early 00's. And... Yeah, she's an interesting character, and it'll be intriguing to see how much she fits into the "I got hurt once, now I'm FUCKING BADASS" kind of personality. But since it's you, I know it's going to be interesting and definitely a lot more than it may initially seem.

Because when the wolf is pinning you up against the wall and raping you, you can either wait for the woodsman to come and save you... or take the axe off the wall and kill that son-of-a-bitch yourself.
I doubt even God himself would blame her if she didn't want to wait.
