In response to Dragoneer's unilateral declaration that avatars should be limited to 25kb, I took a step back and realized exactly how much that is. Can you fill a text file with 25000 characters? Can you even fathom just how much data that is? Quite frankly, that is a REDICULOUS amount of data. Most humans cant even type fast enough to fill 25k in a reasonable amount of time.

So! I looked at my icon and realized that it was HUGE! It weighed in at a whopping 3756 bytes. Roughly the length of a 4 page paper, single spaced. And not only was I using an immense amount of data, but I was using an inefficient file format, not only wrongly, but DEAD WRONG! My avatar only had 6 colors, if that many.
I went into inkscape and set vertices by hand and exported an svg(13.5kb) and png(7.5kb).
I then opened The GIMP and saved it as a GIF (3.8kb). I then converted the colors to indexed, with 6 colors, I think. With various compression techniques, I have now reduced my icon to a WHOPPING 1,105 Bytes.
Let's say that the average packet shooting out of the FA Server's Anus carries an average of 75 bytes apiece. This means that it STILL takes about 14 packet s for you to see my meaningless avatar...

And for the record, no this isnt satire, or even meant to be particularly humorous.
