Part 33 - A Past Occurance
(So this takes place after the last part; Enyo's first (and last) skirmish as a soldier. I didn't put it in italics just for ease. This is /not/ part of the current story line, just an old event.)
After his last fight and the loss of his father, Enyo was deemed "incapable of fighting". This was for the better because he barely ate, he hadn't spoken and for the most part he just stared off blankly. With no family or relatives noted on his record, his name had been put on an "unclaimed" list in public areas. He wasn't the first; since this war started, thousands had made it on that list.
Well, needless to say, Enyo did have someone. He didn't see the wolf approach, not did he notice him dropping his bag and grasping his paw. He only turned his head, his eyes hardly focusing on the wolf's. "Enyo, Enyo it's me... Khoya...". The fotten's expression didn't change; he saw the wolf but couldn't connect the points.
A nurse tapped Khoya on the shoulder and she cooed "Listen, the hospital is packed and we were told to prepare some space..." Khoya's ears perked but he never look away from Enyo. "If you check in in 3 days, I will release him to you today. You just need to fill out a little paper work."
Khoya stayed silent and after a moment, as the nurse was turning away, he said, "Bring me the papers. I'll sign." He kept looking at his love's face, even after the attempted gaze back was abandoned. Khoya's face was stoic, even after the nurse returned.
After some signatures and given them his home address, Khoya took his bag to the car along with Enyo's. He returned to help the fotten up and let him lean on his shoulder, still staring off into space. Getting him into the car was a riot, because Khoya had to literally bend every limb for his mate, and almost push him in to close the door. With his rag doll buckled in, he took off to his apartment. He is lucky he didn't get in an accident because he spent most the time looking at Enyo; looking for any sign of expression.
He parked on the street and left the bags in the trunk. He helped Enyo out, which was much easier than getting him in. They took the elevator and when they made it to the fourth floor, Khoya walked him to his apartment. Once inside, he let him sit on the couch then starting making some tea. He started rambling after that.
"I don't understand, Enyo. One day I'm talking to you at the park and the next you're land lord said you'd run off after your mom dies? I stayed up for nights, home from work; expecting you through the doors at any time! But no, I thought you had just left... Then i get a call from Sierra; your name on a "un-claimed" list! What were you thinking?"
Khoya sat with a cup of tea on the table in front of Enyo. His paws on his mug, warming the soft flesh. He gazed at the blank eyes of the fotten. After a long moment, the wolf sighed. "I'll get you back to normal love, don't worry."
