Toothless is High Maintenance
The other day as I was driving to an appointment to get the rally car an alignment, the upper radiator hose decided to get acquainted with the alternator pulley. I didn't have time to deal with it myself so I had the shop do it for me. They did a few other things and gave the car a once-over but all in all, it came to $350.
And now on top of that, my turbo is probably on its way out, so I have to swap that. The car is also leaking out of the valve covers, so I have those gaskets to replace too. As if that wasn't enough, the rear catalytic converter flange is now leaking! Because racecar = money pit.

btw I've finaly found a decent transmission for the wrx, it's a 2002 one but the center diff and the 3 output bearings(I think) have been changed recently, all gears shift fine, has about 90k miles on it but for 500$ I can't complain. Wheel bearings are noisy, I'll have to replace them, and I also have a leak near the catalytic converter, I'll probably need to change the downpipe as it's pretty much the only exhaust part that haven't been changed yet. There's also rust to fix and the clear is cracking in some spots, I'll have to partialy respsray it. I'm glad that I just bought a perfectly fine 240sx s13 that is stock and unmolested(aka soon to be money pit lol), that gives my wrx a break and I don't have to rush the repairs on it
did you plan on racing the rally car this season or these things can wait a little? off course the car will be getting a lot of abuse so it will break for sure. Just curious, what suspension set up are you using on it?
As far as suspension goes, I'm on KYB GR-2's and Tein lowering springs. Unfortunately, the ass-end of the car weighs as much as a pillow so it sits almost at stock height. I'm going to invest in some coilovers before the year is over.
