Fursuit meme thing
It's no secret that I don't normally do this kind of thing, but my last journal was for my birthday (which is the first day of the year, so it's been a while). I should really be more active on here.
On another note, I was tagged in this thing by
1. What name do you go by when suiting?
Damian, as I do always. The character is essentially just me but a little more exaggerated
2. What is the name of your suit(s)?
Damian Tanuki.
3. Do you have a full or a partial suit?
Full suit. I dunno why but I've always found it hard to get into character properly with only a partial on.
4. What animal is your fursuit?
As the name may very well suggest, it's a tanuki.
5. What color is most of your suit?
Various shades of brown.
6. Does it have any special designs?
Nothing out of the ordinary. If anything it's very simple considering the types of fur patterns tanukis actually have.
8. Does your suit have any accessories? (piercings, weapons, etc.)
While myself and the character wear glasses and an ear piercing, I don't actually have them incorporated into the suit yet. All I wear over it is the blue bandana.
9. How long have you been fursuiting?
It'd be about 3 years now.
10. How long have you had your current suit?
The body I've had for the full 3 years, head mk.II I've had for just over one, forepaws about 2. It's a bit of a mishmash of different periods.
11. Is the suit you have now your first fursuit?
Sort of. Bits have been upgraded, and a couple of them are fairly major parts.
13 Who made your fursuit?
Shadowsani/ Blue Fox Fursuits. She's on a different account now, but I think the Blue Fox thing is still active.
14. Synthetic fur, or real fur?
Synthetic. Not so much that I have anything against real fur, but holy crap would that be uncomfortably hot.
15. Do you have a moving jaw?
It does not. I would like the next one to, though, since I do talk a lot in suit.
16. If yes, how many teeth?
It's got the lower set, two fangs and a couple of others.
17.Furthermore, does your mouth have a tongue?
Despite not opening without being forced, it does. A nice touch.
18. Follow-me eyes, yes or no?
Nope. I like to be clear about where it is I'm looking at the time.
19. Where did your suit make its debut?
The main thing debuted at a Manchester meet a few years ago. The new head was Confuzzled 2012.
20. What was the first convention (include year of con) you went to in suit?
Confuzzled 2011.
21. Digigrade legs, furry pants, other?
Digitigrade. And on another note, I wish people would take the time to learn how to spell and pronounce that word.
22. What do you do (if anything) to keep your suit clean and nice smelling/looking?
Febreze has been a very good friend to me. In terms of keeping it clean, I use a combination of wipes for cleaning pet fur (which works surprisingly well), and anti-bacterial saddle spray (which is specifically for cleaning synthetics and that sort of thing). I tend to use a combination of the wipes and brushing, since the wipes I use have a lot of the cleaning agent in them.
23. Is there anything special about your suit that sets it apart from others?
There aren't many tanuki suits about, and there aren't many suiters I've come across as 'amusingly obnoxious' as myself.
24. What do you normally wear under your suit?
Under armour.
25. How much would you say your suit has cost you financially?
All together, including upgrades and such it's probably been about £450 to £500. Not the most expensive ever. I think I got a decent deal.
26. What's the most damage your suit (any of them) has ever suffered?
The mesh on the original head snapped, and there was a pretty major tear on the knee where the padding is when I first did some major long-period suiting.
27. What is the core of your tail?
It's a relatively short tail so it's pretty much just fluffy stuffing.
28.How does your suit's various parts stay attached to your body?
Tucking for the paws and head, belt for the tail. Simples.
29. Does your fursuit head have eyelids?
I don't think so.
30. What does your suit smell like?
A thousand balls.
31. If you've got'em, how long are your suit's ears (inches please)?
A few. They're not particularly long but they ain't tiny.
32. What do you store your suit in?
I keep as much out in the open as I can. The body suit is kept hung up, and the head's left out most of the time.
33. What's the story behind your suit (try to be brief):
I decided I wanted a fursuit. Then I got a fursuit.
34. Do you like giving hugs when in suit?
Usually. There've been some bad touches and creepy interactions, though, which I don't care for.
35. Ever... uh... "yiff" while in suit?
No.
36. Do you avoid people carrying coffee, soda, things that stain a suit?
To a degree. A lot of people can be conscientious of the suit anyway, and tend to hold it out of the way if they want some form of interaction.
37. Do you eat/drink in suit, or do you at least remove the head first?
Drinking is difficult, and I prefer to remove the head for it, though if it's in public I will do my best to keep the head on. Eating is impossible. The mouth doesn't line up nearly well enough.
38. Do you ever put your suit on, look in the mirror and do sexy poses?
I tend to do more flamboyant poses than anything. I've never considered myself especially "sexy"
39. How much do you sweat in suit?
More than is perhaps technically healthy.
40. Do you like suiting around kids (under 16yrs)?
Depends on the kids. Some can be pleasant, but the brats that clamp themselves onto my tail bug the hell out of me.
41. Where have you gotten the most attention while in suit?
Piccadilly Gardens in Manchester I guess. That or certain times during cons.
42. Ever been stopped by security/the law for being in suit?
All the police and security personnel I've ever encountered in-suit have seemed to love it. They just laugh.
43. Ever plays sports while in suit?
I've done Fursuit Games and such before. It depends what you count as a sport. Catch and such, yeah.
44. Have you ever let somebody else wear your suit?
I'm far too paranoid about germs for that. I don't even like other people wearing clothes that we aren't likely going to sweat in enough that it can be wrung out.
45. Have you ever cried while in suit?
I got a pretty major headache once because of extreme heat. It was sudden and I was unable to get away from where I was as quickly as I would've liked. The suit hid it well, but I was crying and moaning in pain.
46. Does your suit protect you against the force of drama?
I don't even know what that means.
47. Favorite thing to do in suit?
Shout abuse at people that I couldn't get away with if I didn't look like a cute tanuki.
49. Favorite romping grounds in suit?
Manchester is my usual spot. Anywhere that isn't full of people who might try to damage it is good, though.
50. Do you bowl while in suit?
Never had the opportunity. Would if I could, since I'm bad enough that the suit probably wouldn't make a difference.
51. Ever make a video of yourself in suit?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V7xi6Yt36u8 As it happens, I'm in the official music video for Devin Townsend's song "Lucky Animals" in suit. Other than that, not so much, but others have recorded me before.
52. When in suit, do you talk?
Constantly.
53. Do you believe in the magic?
Sort of. I guess this is part of why I have trouble getting into suiting when I wear it as a partial.
54.Have you ever held up a sign that reads "THE GAME" or "Free hugs"?Are you a 16 year old emo?
No.
55. Have you been on/in the news lately?
I have not. I'm not interesting enough for that.
56. Is anybody ever too old or young to be a fursuiter?
I think you need to be old enough that you don't over-estimate your stamina and make yourself ill at least. Probably best if you've finished growing too, since suits are rarely cheap.
57. When you go romping, who do you take with you?
My quick wit and loud voice.
58. What's the most wet your suit has ever gotten with you in it?
Light drizzle if you mean rain. The eyes are painted, anything more would ruin it. Sweat wise... I'd rather not say.
59. Ever lift a leg, just for laughs?
Only if the time is right.
60. What's your policy regarding camp fires and fursuits?
I'd be too paranoid about getting set on fire.
61. Largest thing you ever got stuck to your suit?
A long blade of grass.
62. How do people normally react when they see your suit for the first time?
Either confusion, or mistaking accusations of me being a fox or raccoon.
63. Favorite suiting story?
It's a strange one. At the Manchester meets, we get a lot of people coming up and asking what it's all about. One guy stuffed a cookie into my mouth, then tried pulling my head off (and had to be stopped by a friend of mine who was nearby at the time). When he'd gotten over the initial shock of what he'd seen, he offered to sell me some drugs.
64. Who are your favorite suiters that you look up to?
I remember that at the very first furmeet I went to, there were fursuits. One of them was owned by someone who's now a pretty good friend of mine who goes by "Flint Fox". That was the first time I'd ever seen a fursuit in person and I was enamored with the idea of doing it myself pretty much instantly. I started shopping around makers myself pretty much that very night. There are a couple of others from the Manchester meets, too. I will always hold a certain admiration for Evil Squirrel's ability to be as bouncy and active in suit as he is and still keep going. I don't want to look up too much, though, since I like to think of most people I encounter in such a capacity as a potential friend and this kind of attitude can make that difficult.
65. Would you get married in suit (or at least with a tail)?
I've thought about it. I'd be up for it if my partner wanted to do it, but I think we're both interested in slightly more traditional deal.

It's a big part of the 'character' I play in suit. People seem to enjoy it, and I have more fun than I did when I was still just using body language.

I luv to talk unless they are very little children.

I tend to try and keep it to "yah huh" and "nuh uh" if I'm in a particularly public place.
