Or clean everything and replace a few parts, maybe just a few minor ones

I'm hoping all I have to do is dry it, but it's a brand new laptop that I won't be able to replace for a year.

All of my laptops have had a liquid bath or spills any how. Most of the keys are dead on my anchient dell.
And my hp laptop the left click button does not work any more so I use my trackball instead.

It's happened to me as well, I took it apart and cleaned stuff with rubbing alcohol to make sure nothing was sticky, some on a qtip to clean the harder to reach or small places and then let it air dry, it works good as new most of the time :( If your hard drive is being fucked over it's just a simple replacement most of the time, a reinstall of windows and your back on the path.
