Yea.... At least their 'core' biggest sellers.

You actually don't have to change 'princess' much... but someone has been captured by the same villain as before.

Collecting has been a big part of nintendo games, usually not allowing you to progress without getting something, a key, a new device ect.

Then incapacitate the bad guy.

I actually find Far Cry 3 very good in general. It has a sandbox feel with level progression and excellent upgrades that do not rely for the most part on current XP or time spent playing but with personal ability to hunt creatures to build upgrades. It make you want to continue the game by making use of XP with stealth or strength upgrades which require it. Both endings however suck.
