Looking to get into horror

I've read a bunch of creepy and horror-ish books, but the closest thing I've seen to scary I've seen on the "big screen" is Blair Witch Project. Not particularly creepy, I'll admit.
Can anybody give me suggestions on some horror films? I'm thinking more the creepy stuff, not just gore-porn like SAW. Bonus points if it's something that will make you think, instead of just making you jump.
Suggestions below, or sent via skype! I can't guarantee I'll find the time to watch everything, but I'll make the attempt!

the Dark Tower series by steven king was pretty good, not a straight horror but really good on the details and has some twists.

The Mist is a good one, if you have a xboxx 360 I recommend looking at State of Decay, zombie game, but good horror movies, not aot that arnt cliché these days, Hellraiser was very good, also puppetmaster was a very good series
