I've long felt that the best kind of charity is the kind where you help people help themselves. So I'm all for things like buying some family in a third world country a goat, or similar. Something for the future.

So of course Kiva.org is right up my alley. And if you haven't heard of it yet, well... you should check it out!

You can even loan someone $25 for free for your first loan! That money comes from a sponsor, so you can't get it back and relend it, but otherwise that's the big charm of Kiva - as you get repayments on your loans money slowly trickles back into your account's credit, and you can make another loan! (Or withdraw the money, but I like making loans.)
