My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Season 2 DVD
12 years ago
After a long wait we've now got season 2 over here, with 2 volumes of 10 episodes currently released so far. (as usual it's a long wait for the other three volumes like last time)
The collector's box unfortunately didn't have an action figure included this time around, could be maybe a buggy box or cost-cutting.
...wonder if Derpy actually makes it through uncut.
Also got Air Gear volume 28 as well... this seems quite the nice day i'm having. ^_^

However, I have heard good things about the movie. ^^
Luckily it'll be ages before that season makes it here... if at all.
A movie? Isn't that's the one where the fans are complaining about them being humans right?
Don't know what it's like personally, or even if it will make it here at all. ^^;
With Magical Mystery Cure, FiM hits 65 episodes, enough for it to be shown 5 days a week for a full three months. This is a rather nice setup for syndication and/or long-term reruns so it isn't strange to see a short season ordered to bring something from around 50 episodes up to 65. One must also remember that there is quite a bit of lag time involved in ordering episodes, so the episode count would have been set early in the airing of season two at the latest.
As for Equestria Girls, it's far better than many feared and most of the problems are inherent to the restrictions it was being made under. Like it or not, it _is_ a toy ad and the niche Hasbro is contesting is the one held by dolls like Bratz and Monster High.
One nice change was in how they handled the popularity contest: Instead of Twilight lagging behind the whole time only to win at the last second, (and probably due to a deus ex machina), the movie remembers that almost no one is going to actually _like_ the abusive bitch that no one is willing to oppose.
The lag over here is even longer actually since the only way to view is on DVD, we get no airtime at all.
Well that's quite a relief this equestria girls is not as bad as you say, then it will be something worth maybe looking forward to in a few years. (I guess die-hard fans fear/hate any change, even if they don't see it) ^^
With 52 episodes in the can, (more than enough for a year of weekly play[1]), the next two special points for selling the show, (or even re-airing it yourself), are 65, (4 loops of daily play a year), and 100+, (the standard for long-term syndication[2]). Getting to the 100 mark is two more full seasons and it's not as important in children's TV[3], but making 65 can be done for about half the cost of a full season.
One important thing to note is how Magical Mystery Cure, like The Return of Harmony, was written to work as a potential series conclusion. This is further evidence of the third season order being aimed at hitting the 65 mark.
It all boils down to things about the business side of North American television. Now, if we are to assume that THX could have produced a full season at the same time as EqG, Hasbro probably wishes they went for a full season, (given that season 4 is apparently a full season and with a full season 3 would have given them the 100), but that was a decision that couldn't really be made on the information they had.
[1] Weekly shows can expect to skip a number of weeks for things like holiday specials and broadcast events.
[2] Long enough loops that you don't have a constant 'this episode _again_" on stations that keep airing it and also long enough to make buying it for a single run worth a station's time and money.
[3] Children are both more accepting of reruns and there is a lot of audience churn, (your show for 6-8 year-olds replaces its entire audience every three years).
