I basically want a site that lets me post a variety of stuff with minimal censorship and notifies me when I get messages from people, when they like a thing, and it is nice to see how many watchers I have but note really required so long as there is the list to see /who/ is watching me and /who/ I am watching. I made an account on another site that was terrible at notifying me when I got a message and that didn't allow me to fave images and things and, well, I just abandoned it. Has to be some degree of social communication in my art communities or I don't care about the site.

There always was some degree of social communication in the art communities, the APAzines encouraged members' comments on each others' contributions to prior issues. That happens here too and I also find it attractive.

There's some tendency for individuals seeking popfur status to turn it into a numbers game. I recently read a trollish bit of bragging about being a popfur using such numbers for emphasis. Just a big fish in a small pond.

My main objective is to share pretty pictures. Knowing pageviews is a nice bonus, but hardly my raison d etre...

Sure, and the VCL model isn't bad, though, I admit, I like the fact that comments are displayed on pictures (Comments, to me, are worth more than 10 favourites or 50 pageviews, I love feedback) but the raw "how often this was looked at, and how many people thought it was good enough to click a little line of text" data is just something extra. It is a nice way to collect some sort of measuring stick on what the public is interested in taking a peep at, but that's about it.

A little egoboo never hurts; pinning your self-esteem on how much egoboo you get is kinda sad.

I really do not pay attention.

Total watches, faves and comments-whore here, I'm afraid.

Feedback is nice...even if it's usually from about 2% out of the 90 plus watchers I have.

Since I don't consider myself a fur, but am here because I enjoy some of the artwork and wordplay in comments, my stats don't make any difference. I'm a 53-year-old fat woman; pretty much invisible in mainstream culture. I'm also unlikely to adopt many furry/scaly/etc... conventions, so I'm unlikely to ever be on the Furry/Scaly A-list.
