At Hormel Field, the River Rats pulled through again, as struggling pitcher Tim o'Roarke gave away the winning run to Jerry Twarog, new pickup from the minors activated today who blasted a two-run homer over left field, bringing in the other new pickup, Craig Jones (QCR/CF/Fox) who had a pinch-hit single.
It was a tight pitchers' duel as both starting pitcers racked up eight strikeouts to their credit. It turned mostly into an exhibition of quality pitching and fielding, with the tie broken in the 6th by the game-winning double by Luis "Papi Gato" Marquez (NLP/LF/Cougar) who drove in his 24th RBI.
It was largely the A-Bomb show tonight as Alejandro Coyotl went 3 for 4 with 3 RBIs and a solo jack to keep leading the team in offense and trying to close in on the league leads in home runs and RBIs.
The Sternwheelers managed to patch together a sweep of the Ravens to the delight of the fans, taking the three-game series with solid offense led by Ian Gecko who came in during the 7th to hit a grand slam home run, staying in to collect another hit in the next inning.

Wow, there's a good rebound effort from the team, getting a sweep after a rough stretch. And nice job by Ian, looks like he's been playing well for us these past few games.

Looks like both of my new signings were clutch heroes of that last game: Jones with a hit, then driven in on Twarog's walk-off homer!
