Oh wow. One of the animators who did The Secret of NIMH died today? Man. That's so sad. He'll be missed.

Lou did not work on The Secret of NIMH. He worked on Rock & Rule, though.

Yeah, he worked on NIMH II. Never really wanted to talk much about that -- and I don't blame him.

He was a great guy, and will be sorely missed.

My mistake. All I did was read the journal. Though, I did looked him up. He may not have worked on the original, but he did the sequel. Which I'm sure was a mistake on his part. But, he did The Muppet Babies, TMNT, SonicSatAM, and many other shows and some movies which I grew up with. Even though some of the movies he worked like Quest for Camelot and Secret of NIMH 2 are shameful, at least he did some memorable cartoon shows. And as such, he will be missed. *salutes*

May he rest in peace. It's always sad to loose a friend.

Lou did some comic work as well; Scott Shaw mentioned that he did a story for DC's Showcase back in the early 90's; I don't know which one, so I'll have to do some searching and see if I have a copy somewhere around here. But he collaborated with the late Deal Whitley on his Opporknockity Toons strips back in the 80's and early 90's (which were published in Albedo Anthropomorphics), and he'd been working on a project for MU Press around that time as well, which, sadly, never came to fruition. He was also a contributor to the Rowrbrazzle APA back during its early years.

I'd imagine quite a few people that worked on a few movies like that which I enjoyed seeing are getting on in the years.

I'm sorry to hear about this. :-/ I did not know him, but I do now his work. My condolences for the loss of your friend.

I hear then news weeks ago about his cancer, Poor guy, he was always a gentleman.

Plus he did work on Rock N Rule.

I spoke with Schirm earlier this evening. It wasn't a shock ... I had held out little hope when I learned that he had cancer ... and that it has progressed to such a thoroughly metastasized state.

I posted my thoughts about Lou on Mkaz' announcement about his death.

If you hadn't heard, we also lost Ron Diaz last week. He DID work on Secret of NIMH. And many, many other films, as a well-known background artist.

Well... Shit.

Rest in peace, Lou. You will be missed.
