In case you didn't already know ...

... The fan-made translation of Mother 3/Earthbound 2 has been completed. http://mother3.fobby.net/
I spent something like 20 hours over the weekend playing it.
...
I played Earthbound when I was a kid, back when it came out. I always thought of it as a quirky RPG with a weird sense of humor, nothing more. But Mother 3 ... Mother 3 is SO MUCH MORE. It's deep, introspective, heartwarming, heartrending, yet still managed to make me laugh. It's probably something of an acquired taste, but the story alone makes it one of the best games I've ever played.
Looking back at the interview with Itoi, I realize I've completely missed a lot of the symbolism. I need to go through it again.
...
The ending made me cry like an idiot.

One does not simply punch a fucking fire and beat up his friends, then get clocked by a four by four. Dayum.
Granted, they're very GOOD cartoons and video games, but still.
... In my case, probably character levels.
Equipment and items seem to come naturally anyway, rendering shops moot like half of the time :/
I didn't think it would draw me in like this but damn it did. lol now if you excuse me I have some things to look for :D
But still. awesome game. Why wouldn't they want to bring this over to the states officially.
I will be part of those people, but I have other thing I have to finish first before getting into this.
And maybe that's why it was not ported over. It was that good. It would put our stuff to shame.
And then on Friday night I happened to be reading BoingBoing, and saw this: http://gadgets.boingboing.net/2008/.....glish-pat.html Within seconds, I was scouring Google for a ROM, and within ten minutes I was playing it. And then, halfway through chapter 1, I got an E-mail. From the translation team. Saying their long and tortuous ordeal was finally over.
But by then ... it was TOO LATE.
And I have some urges to try it again, to see what I missed.
I really enjoyed Earthbound alot though, so i'm guessing this is going to be one gigantic heart warming PSI Rockin fest.
And Flint's fit of rage was just an amazingly well done bit.
