Welcome to my Gaping Maws gallery
Hello everyone,
I just wanted to give a quick welcome to anyone who visits here.
Animal yawns have always captivated my imagination, so whenever I have the opportunity to photograph one, I take it. This has resulted in me accumulating quite a few such photos and I wanted to share them here, where I hope others find them enjoyable and entertaining as well.
I am going to be starting with the oldest of my photos first, and working forward. In the early days, I used a manual focus, manual advance, film camera. So, the submissions for these will be scans of printed photos and I will be reducing these to 1024 pixel size, since higher scan resolution will only show the imperfections of the printing and scanning processes.
As I move into the digital camera age, and no longer restricted by printing and scanning limitations, the later submissions will be at the full 1280 pixel submission limit (these submissions are not for people to grab and print out posters of, so I will not be bypassing FA's rules and uploading pictures larger than this size).
I also do not want to flood FA with these RL animal photos, so I will keep the submissions down to just a few per day. Although big cats, such as lions and tigers, are the most frequently seen yawning animals, I will try to vary up my submissions as much as possible, to keep things fun and interesting.
Thanks, and I hope people enjoy this gallery.

Nice to see you uploading here c:
These current photos from 2006 and earlier were taken on an old digital camera that only took 1600 x 1200 photos. All I've done is crop the 1600 down to 1280 to meet FA's rules. So, for these photos, there is no additional detail to be obtained from them. The quality is also affected by the fact that digital zoom technology from back then was not always the best.
When I eventually get to those photos taken after I had gotten a new camera in 2008, I am not sure how I will handle them. I know you can bypass the upload dimension limits on FA, but I'm hesitant to risk getting kicked from the site for breaking their rules, having been here for 13 years now.
I'm also reluctant to start uploading to another site, as it is rather time-consuming to manage multiple sites. I already work 50 hours a week for my normal job (so there's certainly no money issue involved), on top of which I process thousands of furry convention photos a year, which I then pick and choose out of to upload to my Rats-Eye-View account.
While many do not need it, with every photo I check to see if it requires any post-processing white balance and contrast adjustments, meaning I work on convention photos for weeks, before posting (I generally take between 4000 and 6000 photos at a furry convention). Zoos are not as bad, as I usually only take 200-300 photos, and many of those I know immediately that I won't be posting them. But it's still a process I go through.
I do upload some mostly non-gaping maw photos to my Deviant Art account: https://www.deviantart.com/prowler7
These I usually upload at 1920x1080, because that's the resolution of my monitor and I use the photos as wallpaper images. Those from my older camera will of course, be smaller.
So, this is all done merely for fun for me, and it can become stressful when trying to work on so many different projects. For now, I'm simply trying to keep it simple and fun, so I don't end up waiting another 10 years before posting.
