This was a surprising little trend I've noticed.
Most of the main characters in this year's blockbuster movies at some point become hobos. Shall we go down the list? Why yes we shall!

Man of Steel: Clark is El Hobo Grande!
The Wolverine: that beard alone makes him a hobo...even if he had a mansion!
Pacific Rim: Go watch that movie again, he's so unkempt!
47Ronin: Keanu Reeves is a dirty flea bitten half breed gaijin, with the beard to match!
The Desolation of Smaug: they have 12 hobos in the film they just call them Dwarves! Gandalf also counts.
Riddick: what else do you call someone who was king one day and marrooned the following? HOBO!!

Elysium: everyone is so damned poor they may as well be hobos!
The Hunger Games: Again...dirt poor people are the stars..poor bastards

That's right the homeless are given a voice this year. It's cool to have no one place to call home, to have everything you own tied neatly in a rucksack, backpack or bindle. To live free in the open and carefree world of forests and abandoned railway cars, as they work day to day doing menial labour for the few pennies that will yield them food or shelter for the night. This year these brave urban ruffians are our heroes. These are the men and women who we look up to. For when we cry out in suffering,when the children are scared for their lives, for when our oppressors—er--oppress us...the Hobos will rise!!!


Why aspire to be a billionaire playboy with scores of women and gadgets at your feet when you can now be a Hobo with nothing!!
Uh-okay yeah that didn't quite work out the way I planned, but Hobos godammit!!! They're hip! They're in! Guys, become a Bum let that beard out, never wash again become the man your mom was ashamed of..the man..you were meant to be! THE GODDAMNED HOBO!!
