[Eurofurence] Can I just say...
Excuse the bad language but... I fucking love the fandom!
I don't intend to make this one of those 'list everything I did' journals, as I'm sure there are gonna be frigging LOADS of those. I wanted to reflect back on it slightly differently. I was reminded at that lovely hotel in Magdeburg just how wonderful the whole fandom is. People from several continents of the globe coming together to enjoy each other's company, to hug and scritch and cuddle, to go 'awwwww' at the cute fursuits, to dance the night away and follow up with a hangover... and not a single ounce of judgement against one another. The furry fandom may be jusged upon by those outside of it, and our reputation is still on the mend, but when I go to conventions I'm always reminded just how great the fandom is and how wrong all the critiques are.
I can remeber standing on one of the lobby overhangs looking down at the con, all the people milling about talking, laughing, drinking. Life size animal suits just wandering around and no one thinking it weird. The fact that some of us like to dress up and hang around these individuals as a hobby, we pay money and book time off work to be with each other and fursuiters, is a wonderful thing. I realised how different I feel when I'm at a con:
Everyday when I come home from work and lounge around on the internet yapping away with other furries online, I forget what it's like amongust 1000+ furries. When I arrive on day one, I feel like regular boring old me, but by day 4 I feel free! I really and truly feel like Flinty, whether I'm in suit or not (also, full suited for the first time - flipping amazing!). I feel like I become the person I truly am, and it's a shame only a furry convention makes me feel that way. Already now, back home on my pc, I can feel that thick atmosphere that made me feel so wonderful and alive fading. That's why I wanted to write this down now.
Sitting in your room writing or drawing and posting the results on FA isn't what it's all about, I keep forgetting that. It's a great contribution to the fandom, but nothing beats hanging out with my furiends. I'm still runing on a high from Eurofurence but I know I'm gonna come crashing down soon, but I just wanna thank the insane staff of all the conventions for putting so much effort into running these things. and I want to thank all my friends, new and old, for making the fandom what it is and despite any drama that occassionally goes on, I don't ever regret being a part of this awesome group of fuzzies!

I know exactly what you mean. It's kinda like this for me, too.
At Eurofurence you can truly be yourself. You don't have to hide anymore. You just hang out with your friends in person, talk about furry stuff, hug one of those super cute fursuiters once in a while like it's the most normal thing in the world. It's just awesome. :)
Ok, now for some PCD. But remember, there is always a next EF. :D
At a con you transform, and if your lucky for a few days afterwards you're still you.
