I'm assuming you're talking about Gears of War because I just started playing not long ago and I'm now playing with a friend. It's pretty effective.

That probably won't work if you go through it on the higher difficulties. The way you're "supposed" to do it is to fire a Torque Bow bolt, which will scatter the kryll when it goes off, then snipe him while they're scattered. He'll be walking your way as you do this, and once he's close to you, you go around him and sprint for the Troika. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Just beat him on the insane level (third, hardest). Took me a few dozen times and a good few hours, during which I marginally increased my accuracy putting sniper rifle ammo in his pretty face and developed an eye twitch, which, thankfully, is now gone.

He's a tough bastard he is; you don't carry enough ammo to shoot him down without picking up some more. Lancer + Sniper + Pistol. just be sure to shoot him in the face and power reload every time (power reloading not only reloads faster, but also gives you boost to your damage with the current clip).

Don't bother with the troika, the kryll will get you next time it gets darker - there is hardly any warning when it does, and the place around the troika isn't illuminated.

Tell Dom to cease fire and hide, he'll do a good job distracting Raam and let you aim for a bit longer. Revive Dom when he gets shot.

Face. Shoot there. It's pretty and begs for screaming death ammunition to be applied to it.

Instead of running around obstacles, jump over them. Somehow you end up getting hurt less when you do that.

Yeah, it's a pretty tough job solo. Even when you hide in the light, he usually just stomps over and blows your head off. Congrats on finally getting past it!

Me, I just stuck him with an arrow, ran past to the minigun and let fly at his face around the same moment he sent some more of his bats after me. Poor choice on his part, really, dropping your cover when there's a minigun spinning up pointed at your mug...

That's how it always is. You try these horribly complicated strategies to win....when the best way is to stand still and shoot em.

I couldn't beat it without co-op, either. D:
