Microsoft Surface RT...is a BUST -...kinda...-
12 years ago
So I did finally get my hands on the Microsoft Surface RT Tablet. My own store was selling them and I did get some extra money from my Birthday yesterday to where I didn't feel like I was completely waste my money.
Well, I installed it and got to try it and...it's not bad. BUT!!!...it's not what I was hoping for either.
You see, when I first noticed the Surface and started to play around with its demo, I got the impression that the Surface Tablet was basically a mini Pc due to having a similar Microsoft Windows OS and Desktop system. I thought that, along with being able to use Word and Powerpoint (which was the original main selling point for me) that I could also download other programs like I did on my main Pc (like iTunes or Norton or Photoshop). Well...I found out I was HALF right. The Surface CAN install programs like a normal PC and run them...........on the PRO Edition.
Yep...The Pro edition isn't just a Doubled version of the RT in RAM, Space, and Display (though I heard battery life is worst but not horrible), it is (from what I have read on reviews and comparisons) the REAL miniPc I was expected as that SCREAMS it can run Adobe Photoshop and even offers a Stylus Pen for programs like that. It can run compatiable programs from Windows XP, Vista, and 7. IT IS A MINI COMPUTER in the form of a Tablet.
*slaps my forehead*....I am such a f***ing idiot.
SO the RT is going back to the store tomorrow and I will either be saving up for either the PRO version (PRO 2 when it comes out soon) OR just get a fricken LAPTOP that can already do Pc stuff plus have extra slots and a DVD/CD thingy (even though I didn't care about that).
*sigh* I was really hoping to have a second computer at this junction. Guess I'll have to wait just a little while longer.
So yeah, final verdict: RT works just fine as a tablet and is reasonable fast. Just...don't expect to install anything more than what is currently on the Windows 8 app store (unless you buy the PRO edition).

FA+

Also, happy belated birthday! :D
And after some consideration and guidance...I'm gonna get a laptop (maybe). I might still get the PRO 2 to product test it like I did with the RT (since I admit I was going in it blind with only my expectations from what I played around with the demo), but unless the PRO 2 keeps my interest before the 14 days I have to return it, I'm leaning back towards getting a Laptop....a Laptop SPLIT that is (HEHEHE)
