I enjoyed the heck out of my first con, but then, I went with a group of friends. If you know other people who are going, I'd whole-heartedly recommend it. If you don't, it's still a good time, but may not be worth it depending on free time / distance / cost. If nothing else, it's an interesting experience chatting with artists in person about the porn they're going to draw for you.

I'd say you should go to Further Confusion instead, but that has more to do with me wanting to meet longbeasts in person than any sort of genuine recommendation about what's best for you personally. If you don't know if you'll like furcons, adding an international flight to the time-and-cost analysis doesn't do any favors.

The problem with going to a con in the US is that my passport type doesn't match the requirements of the US visa waiver programme, despite me being born and raised in an allied nation. I'd have to apply for a full tourist visa, which involves a lot of paperwork, requires you to visit a US embassy, and can take months. That's a far worse problem than air travel.

I only know of one good friend who wanted to go to Confuzzled. There will probably be a few others that I haven't heard about yet. I suppose I should try to find out.
