Hawaii's win sealed Tucson's fate, mathematically eliminating the Titans from any possibility at reaching the playoffs. The Tikis have extended their winning streak to seven games in a row (their longest all season) to keep up with the Pioneers, whose ace Keith Veeck (PDX/SP/Sheep) remains undefeated for the season with his tenth win out of eleven starts.
Washington's Randy Hill (WAS/CL/Badger) blew another save and hurt his own team's chances at sneaking into the playoffs after serving up the game-winning 2-out home run to Jorge De La Cruz (CHA/2B/Skunk). Despite having a base open for a potential intentional walk of the switch hitter that had been 4-4 for the day, the Ravens allowed Charleston's best performer of the day to save the game for the home crowd and extend their lead in the Eastern Conference to two games over the Pelicans who lost to the aforementioned Pioneers.
With Quad City's win over the Sternwheelers to keep pace with the Swamp Foxes, and New Orleans on a roller-coaster in their last ten games, it may come down to the series later this month between Charleston and the River Rats to solidify which one of those two teams will get the second playoff spot in the East.
