I'll be at Midwest FurFest this year. On Saturday I'll be presenting on "Writing Better Fiction," sharing what I've learned from ten years of publishing the fanzine Fang, Claw & Steel http://webhome.idirect.com/~twessner/fcs/fcs.htm For an example of the editing I've done, try checking out Wookiee's story, "The Bonding Stone." http://www.furaffinity.net/view/14014/
"Writing Better Fiction" is based on the "Rules of Writing Good Fiction" presentations I've done at AnthroCon. The more you know about how stories work, the better your stories can be. Once you know what the "rules" are, you'll be able to go beyond them to surprise and delight your audience with new and unexpected wonders and terrors.
Learn about "The Beautiful Tragedy of the Magician," "When Real Things Happen to Imaginary People" and "The Secret to Writing Good Fiction." Yes, there is a secret, and I will tell you what it is.
The presentation has been trimmed to fit into an hour. But since there're nothing booked for the room afterwards, there'll be plenty of time for supplementary discussion and materials after the official end time.
A lively and informative time is guaranteed for all!
