just know anyone that sell syou one from the dev section. ask em to factor reset it. (they study ways in how to run unsigned code homebrew replacement OS's etc that since it'd be your first e-Reader you want it in a working order.)

sorry i cant help beyond that, i gave my mother a year ago my Kindle 4th gen non-Touch. :/ but if your going after a Kindle or nook "e-Ink" screen based reader you haveto be GENTLE. thier screens break easier than LCD though if they do and leak. you get litterally just Ink all over you.

Sorry I didn't message back sooner, I've been on the road the past few days.

The thing is, no offense meant, but if I was going to spend $80+ on a ebook reader, I would just go buy the Nook Simple Touch, which is $79. I was sort of hoping for maybe someone who no longer needed an older ebook reader and might be willing to sell for like $20-30. If I have to spend more than $50, I'm probably just going to wind up springing for that Nook. Also, I don't think I would use any sort of e-Ink item if it actually has ink in it, considering I can be rough on electronics sometimes.

also forgot to mention ( i tend to ramble too easily ^^;;) if you JUST want books. then you can settle for a kindle Keyboard 2nd Gen Just as easily. the First Generation Kindle no longer supports books released in modern Kindle Formats. (though im not sure if it supports PDFs) if you get one and have questions dont forget to poke me or ask over at the Mobileread's Kindle section.
