If I were to offer commissions?
First you, thank you to all you guis, I've been utterly blown away by all the lovely comments and support I've received, well, more overwhelmed to be honest!
I'm sorry I haven't finished giving my newest watchers some comment love but I wanted to get this sorted before I crawl off the bed.. I've had 48 new watchers in the space on 24 hours and its utterly blew my mind.
If I was to offer commissions would anyone buy? I've sort of had a little bit of interest in them so I thought I would maybe give it a roll. I'd offer just about anything as long as it wasn't to the extreme, expect scat and bestiality because that's way beyond my realms of personal comfort.
Prices would be...
Coloured bust shots $10
Inked $15
Flat Digital Colours $20
Cellshading $30
Full digital colours $40
No sketches 'cus I just can't scan them right and you wouldn't like them.
On to the to do list of doom, no particular order just as I think of them.
Free Kiriban commissions for
kepora
ilikeyourart
Maybe one person more.
Trades (I'll open up again in the future but I'll contact you plz)
yunicoon
Dktorzi
Kanvet
Giftart. (there's a crapton of other people I want to draw for but I'll get these out of the way because I have zero organisation skills)
mcarson
squeedgemonster
I also need to add
YOU PEOPLE BLOODY ROCK!

YOU PEOPLE BLOODY ROCK!
Might be another month or so before I can commission though.
And might I add,
YOU FREAKIN' ROCK!
I look forward to making sweet sweet artwork with you. x3
but money's going towards Christmas :(((
Maybe a trade some time though? Cus that'd be awesome! Though I'll leave it completely up to you!
Don't take to much on at first though, increasing your workload with commissions is a sure way of making money. But you risk losing your love of drawing with the added pressure.
If you do this you should only take 1 or 2 at first and make it clear that these are your first and will be done in your own time and way. You'll be working with a strange breed of furry, "commissioners" can be annoying, demanding, relentless and prone to changes of heart about what they asked for.
It's not all bad though, some are amazing...like me
I wish you the best of luck with this!!!
Breeze(the advice squirrel)
I was thinking maybe opening up for two first then later batches of three maybe, that way I think that no one will be forgotten and I can deliver work promptly and filled with enthuiasm. I hear that the worst part about commissioning someone is the waiting and I want to be able to give them the work within a couple of weeks not months but I also want the work not to be rushed and thus look crappy.
This is why I'm doing the free commissions, so I can see how I work with other people characters, what I'll need to know and how long I'll take.
Does that seem sane to you? You've now become my commission guru and guide!
Clear these up first and offer cheap commissions, but only one at a time. That should give you practice at all aspects of it. 2 or three cheap ones and you should have everything worked out.
A good idea is to get everything hammered out before hand, get them to send you a full description with links to refs if available. Then make a rule that no major changes can be made once you accept the details. I've heard of a few commissioners changing their minds every few days, must be a nightmare.
I don't mind waiting a while for quality, i've commissioned a few times now and only a couple have taken more than a month or two. I've been lucky.
My newest for example: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1735512/ (just two weeks!)
When you start doing paid commissions, give me a shout. I'm interested in grabbing one.
Process wise I would send them a copy of the sketch, allow them to suggest any changes they require, within reason... I was thinking that 50% of the price would be sent to me then, I'd show them the lineart then the flats, as long as they want to see them that is, and when its completed the rest of the money owed can be sent. I thought that would be the best way to keep trust between both sides, I'd hate to take all the money incase something untoward happens and as I'm a really new artist I need to build a good reputation and prove that I'm not just going to run off with the cash.
Again, many many thanks for the advice!
You have to make time for your own projects in between commissions, it'll keep your brain happy
I know what you mean about saying no to people as well, all i do is colour pictures. But i get asked every so often to colour a sketch or lineart for somebody, i've not turned anybody down yet but one day i'll have to. I have to see potential in the picture or i can't get motivated with it.
No problem with the advice, if it helps and you'd like more someday just send me a note
I also keep forgetting the mention that I can only take Paypal, but I think that's common practise.
I am planning a few projects too, I may make a journal about it, I'm planning to attend a couple of cons next year, mainly a day at Confuzzled and maybe a dealer table at RWB (I'm not sure if you've heard of them) so I'm hoping to do a little for them and maybe make a few friends. But not I'm rambling...
I meant it when i said i'd like to be your first paying customer, so yes i've love a slot. I don't want to push your free picture people to the back of the queue though.
I'd go for the full fat $40 digital commission, what would i get for that? I mean character and background wise etc.. Also some artists(not all), when completed, give a FA sized picture and a higher kickass rez file, would you be doing that?
Regardless i still want to be your first
Not pressuring you but what kind of time frame would we be looking at? I'm just wondering if a new year themed picture would be out of the question. No rush though, i'm full of ideas.
I have paypal and am totally reliable Ask anybody.
I'm in England *waves* and i've heard of the cons and........isn't confuzzled in the UK? Do you live here?
When I've been sending out the kiriban ones I've sent a huge high rez version and then a decent sized one of the size I would post on my own gallery.
Time scale work, up to two weeks I think would be a safe statement, though I'd probably be able to get it to you sooner but I'll aire on the side of caution.
Also I'd like lots of information off to work from, I'm really keen to get feedback from the commissioner to avoid any awkwardness, I think maybe
This is giving a great chance to iron out some little details so thank you again, you have been unbelievably helpful and sweet! When I open some slots for the general public (lol) I'll make sure to include this points and detailed examples of what I'm offering.
I'm in the UK, I'm living somewhere between Nottingham and south west Devon at the moment. Confuzzled is in Manchester, my room mate wants to go for some odd reason and I thought just going for the day would be a nice taster and they seem to be having some great talks and events going on and I wanted to donate a print for the charity auction (I'll try and do that whether I can attend or not).
When you're ready or have any more questions note me?
Because if this is NEW gift art, that's crazy and I love you. Jesus.
fuck that jeez
also whoa why am i on gift art list what you doin' girl
I haven't worked out what I'm doing yet, but who's bothered with the small print!?
y-your characters are really pretty as well i need to draw them sometime when i'm not
being dumb ;3;
that should be considered a crime :p
I’m quite surprised looking at you price list, with the high quality of your art and the work you put into each piece I’d say that you are under charging by a large margin.
but
