Bad products.

A good salesman does not use a gun to sell a product. It's a very simply concept to grasp. If you do not offer a good product, you cannot use force to make someone by it.
So, when I see exotic new proposed products on the market, I like to keep this simple idea in mind.
When we are talking about new gun control laws, a really interesting idea comes up quite a bit by progressive thinking entrepreneurs. Gun owner insurance. Or, gun insurance for short.
With almost any type of insurance the benefits are self-evident. If your house burns down, home owners insurance is a great way to get your home repaired, or rebuilt. Chances are you cannot even have a loan on a house without one.
Car insurance is also good, if your car get's damaged, or you are injured, or if you injure someone in your car.. the advantage of being insured is fairly clear.
Health insurance, life insurance - Flood, drought, boating, hell, even investing....
All of these products offer something desirable. They also offer something else.. they are not mandatory. If you own a car, you don't need insurance.. True, if you want to drive it off your property, most states have provisions for some form of insurance. Homes are similar, if you have a mortgage you need it.. but if you pay cash you do not, and yo will not be put in jail if you don't.
Even Obamacare simply charges you a penalty for not having insurance.
What do all these have in common? You will not face criminal charges if you don't have them.
So, what of the wonderful products being dreamed up by http://www.guninsuranceblog.com/ ?
Here is the issue I have.
These people swear up and down that they produce a desirable product. They offer unique incentives to buy, and that their service is in demand.
Why then do they not have customers?
So, here is the sales pitch..
All of their plans require a law be passed that you buy their product.
Now, when you involve the law, what are you really saying? That this argument will eventually lead to a gun. No, really, think about it. If you do not follow this law they propose, after ample notification, and non-compliance, a police man will knock at your door, and ask you to come with.
Meaning, the product does not have to be good, or beneficial to you in anyway.
The argument has been resolved with the initiation of force.
Ironically, these entrepreneurs hate guns, at least many of them do.
It would be similar to your car insurance agent being vehemently against car ownership. It starts out as an inherent conflict of interest. One must point out, that for people that dislike guns so much, they sure are not afraid to use them when selling a product.
So, here are my simple suggestions to the individuals pushing this sort of tripe.
Actually offer something enticing to the prospective buyer of your product.
If you really think that gun insurance is a good idea, prove it.
Show us results.
Give us an idea of how much it will cost, and be competitive.
Don't actively support organizations against private gun ownership. This is a huge issue I have. That a company actively lobbies to eventually remove what they insure. This should send alarm bells ringing to anyone with half a brain.
What company that hopes to make money would knowingly work toward self-destruction?
So, I am highly skeptical of anyone offering these sorts of products, and at the same time pushing for laws to make their product mandatory. This is cronyism at it's finest.
I am not against gun owners insurance, I am against a company mandating I buy their product. I don't know about you, but "because you have to" is not a sales pitch I think we should accept.

I loathe required purchases, like car insurance. If they're mandated by the government, why aren't they just taken out of our taxes? I shouldn't -have- to buy something with my goddamn money if I don't want to. I can pay for vehicle damages out of pocket- it would be cheaper in the long run. Same with doctors visits. I've gone for a checkup once a year($200) and had one emergency room visit in the past 10($2500). Thats $37.50 per month. You can't find that rate -anywhere-.
