Lots of Stuff! December is Coming!
First of all, I'd like to give a big thanks to everyone who's commissioned me as of late.
atownsend and I originally agreed that we wouldn't get any presents for eachother for Christmas this year. Money is tight (well...money is tight with ME mostly, he makes about double of what I do since he works full time. I have class :/) We decided that we'd rather give to our close family and save what was left over (if any) to put toward our trip to AC next June (which is coincidentally very close to our anniversary), and that would be our gift to eachother. However, thanks to you guys I've got a small sum saved up and left over and I'll be able to get him something special this year. This really means a lot to me that I'm able. Thank you all so much <3

Hope everyone had a good turkey day! :D It's amazing how much I can fit into my stomach.
Ok! The semester is winding up now! You know what that means! I'm going to ceremoniously burn all my books in my back yard :D Oh Honors Humanities 400, you were so very stimulating, but your workload I will not miss! Nay! The Brothers Karamazov! A masterpiece of literature! A true profound adventure through text! Your length was astounding, and your final essay is yet ahead of me like a dark cloud on the horizon!
But seriously it was a pretty good book if you sit down and really read into it.
Anyway! With finals rapidly approaching (only a week or so I believe), I'm going to really have to crack down. So to all my commissioners, your progress reports are going to slow down a little and I ask that you please bear with me a tad! It shouldn't effect anyone too much (and I'm going to tell the hyena to hide Left 4 Dead until I get my artwork done >:3), but just in case I panic and devout hours into studying (I...somehow doubt it), then I have forewarned you. However, the most it should delay anything would be a few days.
Also, a quick note. My YIM is arland_beowolf and my AIM is ArlandBeowolf. I occasionally get a shy note about commissions or my contact information, ect. Dont be so shy! If you want to talk more real time about commission stuff versus notes or email or if you just want to chat it up, by all means drop me an IM! I always enjoy shooting the shit (pardon the expression), and considering the fact that I hole up in the office in the dark working most nights after the hyena goes to bed (and before he drags me back to bed with him early in the morning), it's a welcome distraction! <3 I may be a little rough around the edges when it comes to social grace, but I dont bite!
Ok, now Anthrocon stuff.
I'm probably going to begin preregistration toward the beginning of December. I didnt want to get anything set in stone until I knew the travel route to get there and the hotel cost, ect. I'll be rooming up with superfriend amazing SleepyTbone (I dont know that fags username or I'd link the page) and of course
atownsend, whom I'm dragging to PA by either means of plane or car.
So, that being said, this is going to be our first con. Neither the hyena nor myself have ever entertained the thought (or had the money for that matter) to do something like this and, I'll admit, it's a little overbearing. For those of you who have gone to cons and the like, is there anything I should know? Any advice you can pass on? Plane or car? Ect?

Check the forums, there is usually a lot of good advice available. Uncle Kage had a post last year going over some of the basics and things to avoid. Also check out the complaint thread from last year: the biggest complaint was the 90 min wait to register. Both of my cons got me in within 6 minutes!
Travel is personal preference relative to money. The plane is faster but the car might be sufficiently cheaper to justify the time spent. If it's a 3-4 hour drive and cheaper it's probably better to do that: the airport might take that long if you include the flying time. Not sure where you are at but that is what I will have to think about in May for AFF09. If there are fun fares it might be worth it for me to fly and transit to the hotel rather than a 5-6 hour drive one way.
Buying stuff: either bring something to hold drawings in or use the hotel's mailroom for mailers to protect your stuff. An extra suitcase might be good too depending on how much shopping you do.
That was kinda rambling but it was all I could think of right off the bat. Good luck and enjoy yourselves!
As for the registration thing, we plan to pre-register, which supposedly is going to cut the wait time by 90%. Now whether that is true or not it's hard to say. We also planned to draw our own badges (and the badges of a couple of friends) to cut that cost out of the picture, and being the art whores that we are, we both have portfolio to carry our artwork as well as any that we buy. Now as far as junk goes, I gots me a hyooge suitcase.
Anthrocon is sounding somewhat overbearing though. The only major reason we're going is to meet up with some friends that we made a promise to. But with 4000+ people going to be there, I'm thinking I'd rather start somewhere smaller. We'll have to see where it goes.
