About the Raffle Pimp Journals Ban (opinions plz?)

I honestly wanna know what people think with this. So i'm gonna put my thoughts here, and I wanna see what you guys think too.
SO please be nice, don't bash other people for their opinions, I just wanna see what others think.
Alright. So, as a lot of you who have been with me for a while know, I'm really big on raffles. I love being a part of raffles because I don't have the money for commissions a lot of the time. And when there was journal spam for raffles I would get a little frustrated, but usually if the journal was a raffle pimp it would say so, and if a lot of people posted about the same raffle you would be able to tell easily enough because they would all either have similar titles or the same link. Yeah, it could get annoying, but hey, it is what it is type thing.
Then there were two big raffles that went around at almost exactly the same time that spammed the universe.
I don't blame either of the raffle holders. They had know why of knowing what kind of spam that would cause, especially with both of them going at once. And I can't really complain, I was participating in both raffles.
When the rule about journal pimping was banned, I kinda had mixed feelings. I know a lot of artists used that kind of thing to get new watchers and stuff like that. I was planning on doing something like that to try and get people to watch me eventually (not so much anymore since life has been a little crazy and spastic for a while). But at the same time, it was nice not to have the spam, and it was nice to not have to spend all the time i was posting raffle journals just so I could get a chance to have more are of my characters.
Since the journal ban, a lot of people said basically "fuck doing raffles" which honestly pissed me of. (And not because there are less chances for art and shit like that, cause that's just selfish.)
I'm pissed about that because some of them their reason was the journal ban! I honestly think that its stupid and selfish of them to say that. I know a few artists who still, even with the journal ban, have been able to hold raffles and still get their name out there. How? By being a good artist and a nice person maybe? I think so. Cause personally, I think that the people who are doing raffles even with the journal ban in place are really some of the best people, and I can't tell you how much I've shared their names around and been like "hey~! This person drew this for me! Look at the amazing job they did!" I honestly think that things like that are worth so much more then just "hey~! This person is having a raffle. Check it out." In my mind that just invites the people who are assholes and just looking for art without having to pay for it. And no one needs that kind of shit.
So yeah... there was my ventish freak out for the moment.
By the way, just to explain the semi randomness of this journal, it was brought on by some journals i saw that were sharing around a petition against the journal pimp of raffles ban. I don't know the specifics of the petition, and honestly, I don't care too much. I want to keep it in place. I don't think there's really anything wrong with it. Spamming people with journals shouldn't be the way to get people to notice you, it should be that people should be willing to spread your name around because your art, no matter the form (digital, traditional, written, whatever) is good and that people enjoy it.

Those that don't like it could always jump ship to other sites, right? Why make others miserable by spamming us with complaint journals instead? Maybe we should be lucky that the journal spam ban wasn't stricter...like you can only post 3 journals a day or something like that.
Yeah, that's what I've been thinking. I mean, with DA you can actually make it so you can only see submissions from certain people if you like their art and not all their raffle stuff. So there's always other places if people are really that crazy about it.
Yeah that would be worse. Cause there are some people who i watch who would have a huge problem sticking to only 3 journals a day XD lol
I don't know, maybe because I'm not much of an internet person, sometimes the drama and complaints I see just bother me a little. One of the other strings of complaint journals I've seen lately has been "why won't people leave comments?"--but some of these are from people who never give comments themselves or respond to comments on their stuff. So, I just wonder why sometimes..... *wry laugh*
yeah i completely understand. I try to comment on things and talk with people but with my shyness and nervousness its really hard to open up to people. So i don't bitch about people and hopefully they don't bitch about me. XD
