I learned a year or so after that to never really trust the coders with these things.

After the big note leak I've lost most trust in any of the "coders". Mostly because they can't code shit apparently.

Since when is he in the coding department? I thought he primarily drew things like... well I wasn't sure and I looked and nothing really stands out to me. Maybe that's the secret. Are you just allowed to do whatever you want here when you get over 40000 watchers? Well supposedly he already does, but I figured that didn't extend to the technology involved.

It'll be a much needed update if it goes through! Still feels like navigating around ~2006 dA at times.

One of the things I appreciate about this website is that it is sort of outdated, appearance-wise, at least compared to major corporate websites that like to annually force new layouts on everybody for little to no reason. But part of the reason there are so many break downs is that the present system is not made to handle as many people as it does. I do think announcing it is silly before any real work has been done on it, but many of us are raised on hype.
I know plenty of people have abandoned this website over its technological shortcomings. But if they do well elsewhere, what incentive would there be to come back? I know if I could get out of here I would, and that is not because it still looks like nine years ago.

Well, a lot of people seem to be migrating to weasyl as a backup.

The only thing holding this site back from crumbling is like Zas said; it's largest user base.

But that's because of us.

It looks alright, I guess. What concerns me is if this'll change anything regarding the down-times it tends to get.

FA looks horrible as it does now. They say that they will build from ground up, then I hope they'll improve the PHP or whatever they desire to use. If not, then they can wave goodbye to me.

The only thing FA has keeping it above the ground right now is the fact that it has the largest user base, and most folks don't want to migrate websites. If the update ever happens, it might bring FA up to the present...which will be unfortunate because we probably won't see any upkeep. Just a "that should make them happy" and in a few years we'll all be sighing at how behind we are again. Seriously though...please let us have folders...if I could only organize things beyond "submission" and "scrap"...
