That's pretty true too. Being judgmental aside, I've seen the mockup. It's pretty good. It looks like a mix between the current lay out, weasyl and sofurry in bits and pieces. So I'd say it doesn't mean a damn thing about his design capability.

what Im more interested in with the new design, however, is the speed at which pages load, and how future-proof it will really be. Stability should always take precedence over looks, as well. Id rather have a plain white screen just showing the art more than a lot of bells and whistles.

Well the problem with the website loading time isn't with the layouts, I don't think. It's server side load with the number of submissions, journals, notes and users accessing the site. A blank white screen would only help so much considering what they have to work with server side. Though I do see what you mean. You can easily overclutter a site and make it harder to load too.

This whole situation to sounds to me like "I heard from this one guy, who knows this other guy, who talked to this one chick, who once heard something in passing, about said person, and we should hate them forever from this extremely sketchy information" makes as much sense as thinking the moon is made of cheese.

From what I have heard it sounds like most of the hate was stemming from One single person, and if that's so then I feel this is one single person trying to discredit someone or the entire site because of a past butt hurt or jealousy, or even some member who prefers another sight coming on and trying to destroy the site so that the site they like will finally get a lot more art they like and prefer over whats on their site right now, and most of this has about as much fact to me as the info on the site designer possibly having been a sex offender, so, as I have learned some time ago, treat facts on the internet with about as much credibility as a newspaper comic.

as i said before. the victim was basically pressured into not going to the police. And a coder can wipe data clean enough as to not be traceable by normal means. especially if he has full access to the entire site's code. It is close enough. screencaps are "editable" and thus not admissible in court.

You forget about site caching though. There is nothing a coder can do against that.

And the current design isnt bad. At least it isnt super buggy. I just know the new design is going to have so many bugs and probably be even less user friendly. They NEED to add an on-site reader for stories that can accept more than just .txt but doc, docx, pdf, rtf etc. and they need to remove the stupid size limit and buy a few more servers.

Yeah i agree on the on side reader, and on the server issue. A nice looking better website would of course be nice.

Though, i say since years, they just should rent a rack in Germany, would be cheaper, and the backbones over here are a hell of a lot faster then in USA.

Though, a Server with 2 x Intel Xeon E5-2620, 128 Gb Ram and 8 x 500 GB HDD is only 540 USD/month. And that's with unlimited traffic. A 1 GBit uplink is a additional 20 USD/month though.

And there are probably much much better offers then that.

I think the main problem is, that it is still hosted at someones Home, with a, even though capable Cisco router, the Router is only meant for side offices. xD;

they claim to have no money despite running ads all the time. Yet they throw a huge, extravagant con every year. FA is like that fur that posts a "emergency commissions for rent money" journal right after their "Just got back from Anthrocon" journal.
