Best con in I don't even know how long!! I had a blast, everything went as perfectly as it could/should have. :)
GUYS, if you EVER have the chance to at least once, GET AN RV INSTEAD OF A HOTEL ROOM! It was totally worth it. The walk from the parking lot was worth it compared to the Elevator Situation, and we had WATER the whole con unlike you folks at the Hilton. ;) The cost was about the same as a room anyways, even with paying for two parking spots every day. We even had a kitchen to cook in! It was fairly glorious compared to other hotel situations I've been in before.
I attended SO many panels this year, and learned a lot of information about suit making, materials, business side related stuff, it was great.
I even met lots of new people which is totally unusual for me. I actually got to see all the people I wanted to compared to last year which was Stay-in-your-Room Con.
AND some of my products from Cheshire Customs got entered into the Masquerade! That was probably my highlight, seeing my stuff up on stage for the first time. Next year I'll definitely be entering and getting up there myself.
My only criticism about the whole con actually, was that the Masquerade was treated (by the people entered) more like a dance comp. I would much rather have the costumes spoken about and shown than danced in or whatever. Japan does Masquerades better imo.
I did end up spending a lot of money though lol

Just some questions.
We did not have to empty blackwater at any point. I believe the blackwater tank only got half full- and we had the RV Friday-Monday. The trick apparently is to use the toilet only when the water pump is OFF. This saves space in your blackwater tank as well as conserves potable water. (Trick I learned from my bf who's a Burning Man experienced RV user).
We used the shower every day (2 of us x4 showers) and used 2/3 of our fresh water. So we still had plenty to spare. You can pay $30 to the RV renters to have them take care of dumping black and grey water so you don't even have to worry about the grossness. Worth that money, I'd say.
We're still sort of working out the kinks and everything to be honest.
It's really just to show off your suit more then anything else. Everyone just turned it into a dance competition, which I think happened last year too if I remember correctly.
They talk about it earlier to the judges when no one is there but I'll let him know and see what he thinks.
It just seems counter-productive to me to turn the lights off so you can dance instead of ACTUALLY showing it off lol.
I highly suggest that the camera people try to highlight the costuming aspects, like zooming on fine details that are lost from being so far away from the audience. I guess I expected it to be more like a runway show. Which would probably be really fun! Those extra pieces of staging dont take too long to toss up. :)
Thanks for taking this into consideration Annie! <3
Also, totally awesome to actually meet you in person <3
When I'm walking I tend to space out super hardcore and not like notice anything around me.
I'll be working on your badge this week, sorry it's taken so long!
