My family tried it for a couple weeks once about 15 years ago, after someone claimed that it could work. We hate killing the animals, so we were willing to give it a try. We could tell pretty quickly, though, that there was just no way. I've been vegetarian for 18 years, but like you said, dogs are carnivores. It's just how it works.

I'm all for people going vegan if that's what they believe in. People can thrive so well on a vegan diet and have no health issues with a proper diet. Dogs and cats just can't. They really can't. I have no problems with vegetarians/vegans, but they don't need to force their beliefs onto their pets.

I beg to differ, I know of a number of dogs who eat a vegetarian or vegan diet, I believe most of them were on such diets because of issues with meat...I can't remember what exactly...you're right about cats though, while dogs are technically capable of eating plant based diets, it's not quite the same for cats and they can actually get pretty sick...though there are some exceptions I imagine...

I mean, dogs can be on a vegan diet and be pretty "healthy" perse, but it's just not what they need. It's possible, but it isn't the best for them at all.

depends on the aminals I suppose...I heard about a vegetarian hyena somewhere...lil dude wouldn't eat meat for some reason, wouldn't even touch it...not sure if that's changed or not...was many moons ago...has friend with vegan dog, dog had so many health problems eating a normal dog diet, a good number of them reduced when he stopped eating things with meat...
