Great Lakes Fur Con in Review
Got back from GLFC last night and it was certainly a very good con. Would probably say it was the second best con I've been to after RainFurrest. The staff was great and accommodating; the panels, while rather sparse, were very good from the ones I went to, the DJs were excellent, and the extra rooms like the game room, DD and AA were all fairly well stocked.
For a first time con, it was pretty impressive how well it all worked out and for the numbers it got. About 368 (If I recall correctly) attendees and 76 fursuits in the parade.
Only real issues I had was parking was absolutely abysmal. If you left the con for any reason, you would not be getting a parking spot in the hotel lot again until at least 11pm. Also, the entire hotel was absolutely freezing. A plus I'm sure for all the suiters, but for non-suiters, not as much.
Personally, I hung around mostly with
Vexser and meandered in between other people I knew from time to time. Had only a couple spots of depression this con, but not too bad, mostly just short little episodes of seeing everyone else being able to cuddle with everyone else and I never get cuddles from anyone. Other than that, had fun most all the con. A welcome change from most other cons I've been to.
Besides the con, I did some thinking at work today (rarely seems to produce happy results) and, it could just be PCD talking, but I'm thinking that once I get my suit, I won't be wearing it to the local furmeets. Still to cons, just not the meets around here. I'm considering to a lesser extent just not going to meets anymore at all... but we'll see how I feel after a few more days.

Anthrocon is a great con, I fully enjoyed going to it last year. Though, it is so big that it may be a bit overwhelming for a very first con. But, whatever con you eventually go to, I hope you have fun. ^^
LOL! *DERP*
Yeah, lol just for sewing-related projects ^_^
And the shuttle from the mall parking lot sounds like a really good idea. ^^ Mall parking wouldn't have been that bad this year really if it wasn't for the hardcore winter we've had. So cold and so much snow you had to basically walk along the street cause there was no where else to walk where there wasn't 2 feet of snow. x.x
Hope to see you at MCFC, brah
And yeah, hope to see you at MCFC as well. ^^
I've found that suiting at meets can either be tons of fun or just really awkward. It really just depends on what all is happening at the meet, where it is, and how many people you know attend.
I hope you don't stop going to meets all together. Its a good way to meet people. :/
For myself I feel we do need a slightly more personal/smaller group for things like board games...
I ain't a fan of cards against humanity, but I am a big fan of apples to apples, pictionary, risk and monopoly. I'd love to bring one of these next time if I can :3
And then the smaller meet out in lansing, one of the very few suiters there has something against me for some reason, I dunno, so suiting there would probably end up being pretty awkward because of that.
And going to meets hasn't really done that so far. Going to meets has given me a dozen or so people to hang out with, at meets. So, they at best could be breaking even in that I'm not completely wasting my time by going to them, not really benefiting by giving me people to hang out with outside of 1 short meet a month and conventions.
