Yeah, I've noticed that too. Although, for a while, one of my stories WAS the most popular thing in my gallery I'd done. That's not saying much, since some of my commissioned stuff have over a hundred faves. :\

Exactly. Is it that people think the standard FA story icon looks stupid? Do they just not consider a story fave-worthy? Are people viewing the story but not actually reading it? And why do pictures get so many more comments, too? Seriously -_- These kinds of questions bother me.

And why does the porn get more likes than the first-person wizard detective noir?

I haven't found followers to matter, much. There are writers on FA with thousands of watchers, and each of their stories only get 20-30 faves each, whereas most artists can expect 60-100 for a fetish picture, or more.

Yeah, I've been writing for about 2 years now and the most faves I've had on a story I believe was 70 faves and that was over a year of people faving it.

I believe this is true because people can look at pictures in a second and fave it, but when they come to a story a lot of people don't have enough of an attention span to get through it.

Probably pretty close to the real reason.

I think the reason is people will click on stories fully intending to read them, but they're more of a time investment so they might not get around to it and lose interest, whereas with pictures, people can just look and immediately decide if they like it.
Also, I know that I, for one often look at FA notifications on my phone, and I can favorite pictures immediately but can't download stories so I just open a new tab with the submission to remind myself to read it later.

So long story short, one "view of a pictures as FA keeps track of it is actually one view, but one "view" of a story may not be one reading. Thus, you have to adjust for this when comparing the percentage of views that lead to favorites.

I fave anything I like, honestly. Story, animation, music, art... dunno why others don't! They're weirdos!

Simple, a picture takes a second to view and maybe a few to contemplate, while a story requires time to read. It won't really help anyone that a story gets more faves without reads. I at least try to always fave stuff that I honestly like and have paid the proper attention.

I'd have to agree with Tak here, Reading requires more thought put into it- if a person wants to actually fave it -and sometimes it's just as simple as giving them a good hook to get them to fave it then read later... or something.
