I found this on f27's journal and decided to fill it out, because I loves vidja games. :0
1) What was your FIRST video game console?
-PC, really. My dad worked at a newspaper publishing company and he'd take me to work on Saturdays, where I would just sit around and play computer games while he did graphic design stuff. I played lots of platformers, like Jazz Jackrabbit. Yay!
2) Name a few games you played on said console.
-At my dad's work, I would play Jazz Jackrabbit, Supaplex, Prehistoric, Rayman, Agent 2 and 3? All olde DOS games. Now I really like Knytt and Within a Deep Forest, which are games a fella made for the computer which are really simple but involved side scrollers that I highly recommend. I also loved the Sims, but I'm waiting for 3 currently.
3) Excluding handhelds, how many VG consoles do you own presently?
-Just one, unless you count my laptop. PS2, yay! I also have a DS which is my main console, but that is a handheld!
4) Were you a Street Fighter nut? Any character in particular?
-I have only played it on ROMs, never at an arcade or on a console. :( I like it, but I'm not a nut. My favourite character is Vega.
5) Do you think Capcom is a FUCKING awesome company with kickass character designs?
- I don't think it's FUCKING AWESOME, but I do enjoy Capcom and their games a great deal. They have some great designs, but... nothing to cream myself over.
6) Here's the scenario.. You had some friends over and you all ate FRIED CHICKEN! After the meal you all decide to play some video games. As your friend reaches for a controller you notice his/her hands are very "greasy." Are you the type that would insist they wash their hands before pawing the controller, or is it no big deal?
-I HATE greasy controllers and mice (computer mice), but I would be unlikely to say anything because I'm not very assertive. I MIGHT suggest they wipe their hands before playing, but, I'll probably let it slide and clean the controller afterwards.
7) What's your favorite RPG/Action RPG?
-Hmm. I do love Chrono Trigger/Cross (though I never finished the latter). I've always been a fan of the Final Fantasy series, but don't have a particular favourite. I also love Okage: Shadow King, because despite it's pretty streamline timed battle system it's very original and inventive in all other aspects, and a very fun play. Also love Super Mario: Legend of the Seven Stars because of timed hits, never much cared for the other Mario RPGs since then. Yeah... I just like all of those, but I DON'T HAVE A FAVOURITE AUGH. :(
8) Do you prefer 2D games or 3D games?
-I can't stand most 3D games, honestly. I much prefer 2D gaming, sprites ftw.
9) Are you an SNK fan?
-I... don't know what that is. ;_;
9) Are you good at DDR?
-Not really. I'm decent with the controller, and crappy on the dancepad. I can only dance a few songs on the normal option and not fail. XD
10) Who wants to kick that dog's ass from Duck Hunt?
-I never played that game, but I've seen the dog. He looks like a loathsome beast.
11)Have you skipped out on important events in life because of video games?
-Nah. But whenever I was home sick I'd be playing Pokemon or other video games. When I got my wisdom teeth taken out, I used the four days I was drugged up and in pain to finish FFX.
12) Do you listen to video game music?
-Not really. I appreciate a lot of it though, and there's plenty I've wanted to get but couldn't find.
13) Have you ever cosplayed a VG character?
-Not yet, but I've considered it and almost cosplayed Cid from FF7.
14) Have you ever been in an arcade playing a fighting game, KICKING ASS, and then some 6 year old asian kid comes in and OWNS YOU??
-No! But, I was at Gameworks playing Tekken 4 when I was about 12, with my friend, and some older fella came along asking to play and I was like OK here have the machine, but he's like "No, I want to fight you!" and so I played and kicked his ass. It was weird, because I'd NEVER PLAYED IT BEFORE OR SINCE.
15) Name three games you would love to see remakes of if it was done properly.
- I want to see Pokemon 2nd gen games remade for the DS. I can't think of others, because a lot of the ones I'd want to see remade are 3D and would probably require a much nicer game system than anything I have and would overwhelm me.
16) Mario or Sonic?
- Mario! Sonic was never something I'd been able to get into.
17) When a movie shows up in the theaters, let's use Spider-man as an example, are you likely to buy the GAME version?
-Heeeeeeeeell no.
18) What is your LEAST favorite genre of video games? (ex. fighting, sports, shooters, etc.)
- Sports, including boxing games just because they're frustratingly difficult. Also not a big fan of racing games.
19) Is there a game out there that you feel was unique and didn't get enough love?
-Knytt and Within a Deep Forest, but they're games made by a fella all on his own and distributed through the internet so I don't expect them to be very popular. Also, Clock Tower 3, which I think is an underrated horror game. No one seems to have heard of Okage, which is pretty grand. Hmm. Those are the ones that come to mind presently, but I know there are others I feel this way about.
20) Have you ever verbally abused a game because you couldn't beat one of the levels and/or bosses?
-Usually I just scream "augh" or profanities.
21) Do you own any VG apparel?
-I have some Pokemon shirts.
22) What are your thoughts on the live-action Super Mario Bros movie?
-I love it in the way that people love bad movies that are so bad they're entertaining.
23) On that note, what did you think about the live-action Street Fighter movie?
-Never seen it, didn't even know it existed.
24) Who's hottest out of the KOF chicks?
-I've never played it, so I wouldn't know.
25) Do you say "old-school" a lot when you're having a VG conversation with others?
-Nahhh.
26) Have you ever lent someone a game and they returned it to you damaged?
-Thankfully, no, but I'm still waiting to get a game back from a friend that I lent her maybe two years ago.
27) Do you own any imported games?
-I have a Korean version of Tales of Symphonia, I think, because my dad found it at work. I just want to sell it.
28) Are you ready for this meme to be over, or could you keep going?
-I love memes.
29) In this scenario, let's pretend you're going to get a video game tattoo! What would you get and where? This can be simple or elaborate.
-I love this question. I would get the Zelda hearts somewhere on my torso, or around my bicep. And they would start out with the three filled, and a lot empty. Every time something important happened in my life that I felt was a growing experience, I would fill one of the empty ones.
30) Have you ever cried after you beat a game? If so why?
- A few moments in Final Fantasy games have made me well up. I cried when I finished playing Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time, of all games, because it was such a tender moment of separation and reunion that was acted out surprisingly well for being a sprite-based game, and I got so attached to the characters. Damn, do I love Pokemon.
