Crown Heights, too. I was mugged in Crown Heights when I was 15. Spent 9 hours in Kings County Hospital with a fractured skull and nose.

Wow, that is a really bad neighborhood...we get drive by shootings and there's a drug operation like few houses down, but idk if the police raided that house or not.

id have a gun or some kind of weapon on me at all times, i do not want to be in a situation like that. it isn't that I'd be afraid of getting hurt, but, there is a reason my fursona is a gator. If it came down to defending myself from someone mugging me, id probably go gator on them.

Kings County Hospital has me guessin' Brooklyn. my grandparents lived on Ocean, and my aunt had a top floor unit in the building at the bend in the Coney Island boardwalk. the one on the same street as the library.

My mom and step dad took a trip to NYC a few days ago because there was a Candy Dulfer concert going on. When she got back I asked her how she liked her trip and she said "Far too crowded, too many people in one spot at a time, incredibly boring. I could leave it and it wouldn't phase me in the least. Takes too long to get to things you want to see so you have to constantly rush. By the time you get there you wasted your day just traveling."

I may be an NY're myself, but I'm a country yokel in a secluded region most of the big city dwellers would get lost in. Luckily since I'm in the Adirondacks a lot of people around here are hunters. So shotguns and rifles are a common weapon if any trouble makers were to come about.

hmm..evaluate your situation, your location, research activity in the area via online news articles past and present, figure out what to expect, take steps to avoid such, and in case of such have means ready to protect yourself. If need be yeah move, but not gonna push such a thing...wish I could get a chance to see ya as you know but i'm all the way in the midwest and might be headin to cali soon, if theres a point where I have room, and you ever need help with travel or a place say something, I know quite a few people on all points of the US, just in case of an emergency. But yeah dude...be safe, maybe invest in a bulletproof vest, wear it each time you go out hidden under your clothes, thats what i'd do in new york, not even saying its gonna happen but it helps to be safe.
