Moooooore Computer Updates

General
It's never a good sign when the repairman says "Boy, we were getting a lot of errors!"
Please note that I am giving these updates for the sake of transparency, not because I want someone to come and tell me how to do basic computer repair that I fully know how to do already or to give me the riot act regarding how I handled my computer problems. I can computer, I have built computers, I know what I'm doing.
Also, if you tell me that I have too much computer than I need, I will block you. I had people tell me I didn't need 12 gigs of RAM during my last upgrade and I assure you that I use every bit of it. I am thinking of eventually stuffing 32 gigs of RAM into it out of spite just because someone told me I'd never use twelve. (The item is here if anyone has $300 to burn: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ.....82E16820231569 )
Saying that, I have had a string of bad luck from my internet breaking in the midst of it to some of the parts being bad to several other issues. I am in the home stretch. but not there yet,
The latest thing is that the motherboard is giving a lot of errors. They're not sure if my copy of windows is damaged or if the motherboard is. I know that my previous repairman reinstalled Windows and might have broken something in the process, but there also might be something damaged with the motherboard as well. They're working out what to do as we speak, but unless they pull a miracle out of their faces, they won't have it finished in time for the stream tonight. So the usual weekly dual stream with Jonas is going to be delayed again.
I don't know if I'll have it by Friday either, although I hope they can get it going before then. I'll continue to keep you posted.
ADDENDUM: Repairman called and said it's the motherboard. I bought it at the store that is conducting the repairs, so I don't have to buy a new one. I'll just be paying the repair fee. Here's hoping it isn't going to be too insane. He also says it might be finished by tonight! Because of this I will not be around to stream as I need to be ready to dash out and pick up my box.

FA+

But I do hope they're resolved quickly.
Being without main computer sucks.
Motherboard damage is never good >.<;
Seriously, best of luck Gen.
The worst part is that I know the most about computers (which admittedly is limited) in my family, so I get stuck trying to figure things out when they go wrong.
If I only I knew enough to feel confident with fixing them, or knew less so no one would ask me for help.
I'm not even going to ask you if you do regular backups, because I'm going to assume that you know enough by now to do so.
I am curious, though, what you think of virtualization. Have you considered making a virtual machine and using that as your regular? You'd have to restore a lot less if you would make backups of the VM.
If you're doing anything video of graphically related then there is NO SUCH THING as too much RAM. Anyone who says different is an idiot
Freaking MB errors -.- Always sucks tracking those kinda errors down, but it's nice to finally have it pinned down. Pain in the ass swapping MBs though, so here's hoping the replacement they get for ya isn't borked as well
As to your problems, good luck, hopefully this is the last of them.
